A woman stripped and lay in the middle of the expressway during a three-hour traffic jam caused by a lorry that crashed and erupted in flames.

The flaming oxygen tanker closed off both sides of the busy motorway, leaving Bank Holiday travelers stranded as emergency services rushed to the scene on the westbound carriageway by the Milnrow junction, near Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

It was a very hot day and the traffic jam didn’t make it better, so the woman, who has now been identified as Lily, used it as an opportunity to top off her tan. She was snapped by amused road users and, soon, others joined her to make the best of the moment.

Lily was traveling to Blackpool with her partner Sam Wadsworth when they got stuck in the traffic jam between junction 21 and 22 of the motorway.

South Africa considers private investments for its ailing state airline

South African Airways (SAA) needs another round of almost $400 million to stay alive after only crawling through 2017 with the aid of several government bailouts.

South Africa’s flag carrier requires another 5 billion rands ($399 million) cash injection in the current financial year in order to meet its financial obligations, a senior treasury official said on Tuesday. According to Reuters, the National Treasury director-general, Dondo Mogajane, told parliament the cash injection could however not come from government but from private investments this time around.

The carrier, which is wholly-owned by the South African government and operates an extensive network of services throughout Africa and international services to North America, South America, Asia, Australia and Europe, has lost money in each of the past seven years and had only been relying on the benevolence of the government.

The cash-haemorrhaging airline over the past few years had received over R20 billion ($1.6 billion) to sort out its financial obligations and debts. The airline had lost R5.6 billion in 2014/15 and R1.5 billion in 2015/16. The national carrier had made a further net loss of R5.6billion in 2016/17. Last year, the government bailed SAA out with more than R5billion to avoid defaulting on its loan from Citibank and Standard Chartered.

In 2015, consultants Ernst & Young presented a report to the government into 48 of the largest contracts awarded by SAA. The report showed that 28 of them, or 60 percent, were improperly negotiated, poorly contracted or weakly managed.

Under the “new dawn” brought on by President Ramaphosa there have been notable changes to key leadership positions in public enterprises, the government appointed a permanent CEO, Vuyani Jarana, a former executive at mobile-network operator Vodacom, in November 1; and he’s been on the drive to implement a turnaround strategy for the national airline. But turnaround can only be successful on the condition that SAA gets more funding from the state to beef up its weak and over-indebted balance sheet.

However, most analysts have always emphasized the need to partly or completely privatize the airline instead of disbursing tax-payers’ money to finance a sinking boat. It was also argued that this should be followed by a total restructuring of the firm’s dealings.

It’s against this backdrop Mogajane said treasury was willing to consider selling a stake in the airliner to a private equity partner. Bringing private investments had also been considered last year by the government, with the idea of merging the three state-owned airlines (South African Airways, Mango and SAA Express) into one entity, and offering a 25 percent stake of the holding company to a private equity partner to help in both management as well as finances.

South Africa had narrowly escaped junk status in Moody ratings earlier this year due to the rapid steps taken to rescue its failing public enterprises. However, attracting private investments seems to be the safest bet for restoring profitability to one of South Africa’s largest public enterprises, which also ranks amongst Africa’s largest airlines.

Canalys: Smartphone shipments in Europe decline, Xiaomi makes the top 5

Canalys released its quarterly report on smartphone shipments in Europe and the numbers do not look good. Overall shipment fell

Canalys released its quarterly report on smartphone shipments in Europe and the numbers do not look good. Overall shipment fell 6.3% between January and March, with British, French, and German markets declining 29.6%, 23.2% and 16.7%, respectively. The entire Western part of the continent declined 13.9% to 30.1 million total shipments.

The picture is brighter in Central and Eastern Europe which grew 12.3% to a total of 15.9 shipments, with Russia seeing a huge 25.4% jump.

Canalys went into detail about leading manufacturers and their performance throughout the first quarter of 2018. Samsung remained on top with over 15 million units, getting a third of the overall market, but shipped 15.4% less than the same quarter last year. The main reason is Huawei and Xiaomi pushed harder in the affordable market.

Apple kept its second place in Europe with 10.2 million units and a share of 22.2%, but its sales also declined by 5.1%. Since the demand for affordable phones is big even in Europe, every fourth iPhone was either an SE, a 6 or a 6S – all of them being over two years old.

Xiaomi is obviously the biggest winner in Q1 2018 jumping straight to the fourth spot. Canalys pointed out that the Chinese manufacturer is still a privately owned company and this allows them to operate at a substantial net loss, boosting market capitalization before IPO. Xiaomi is working closely with distributors to push its devices across Europe, but it also started appearing in carrier stores lately.

Canalys also published estimates of the actual trends in smartphone sales. Over 15% of all shipped devices have a tall screen, while the Dual-SIM units jumped 8% on a yearly basis. Dual-cam smartphones were also on the rise – from 5 million to 13 million units.

Plenty of RAM is no longer a premier feature and can be spotted in cheaper devices, phones with 4 GB and above are 82.7% more than they used to be in Q1 2017.

Wayne Rooney’s Everton future hinges on managerial decision

Reassurances Wayne Rooney’s future at Everton could be in doubt with reports this week suggesting serious talks with MLS side

Reassurances

Wayne Rooney’s future at Everton could be in doubt with reports this week suggesting serious talks with MLS side DC United have taken place.

The Englishman remains the Toffees’ top goalscorer this season but has failed to set the world alight at Goodison Park.

Playing in a deeper role in the team, he has had both good and bad periods this season.

Now, reports have stated that the player could be on his way out of the club this summer with suggestions a move to the MLS is on the cards.

Though, a report from the Liverpool Echo has suggested that he is not looking to leave the club this summer.

However, he is looking for assurances from the Everton boss, whoever that may be next season.

The player has fallen down the pecking order at times this season and wants to be assured he will remain a key player.

Though, that could soon change if Sam Allardyce is sacked and another manager brought in.

So, Wayne Rooney will have to wait for the managerial situation to be solved before he can solve his own future.

Allardyce uncertainty

Sam Allardyce could well be sacked by Everton over the next couple of months.

Uncertainty around his future has been around for several weeks despite the club finishing 8th in a relegation-threatened season.

Everton fans are unhappy with his style of play and do not think he is the manager to take them forward and hopefully into the top six.

Though, there is one name that has been linked as his replacement today.

Henry Knight Comes For Mr. P; Accuses Him Of Intellectual Theft

Controversy is set to hit Mr. P of the defunct P-Square duo.

The singer has been called out by Henry Knight for intellectual theft as regards his new release, Ebeano.

In a lengthy message on Henry Knight’s gram page, he took time to share how A-list acts tend to get away with content theft. He added that most of these acts a never ready to help you grow but would rather rip you off and make so much profit off your property.

In his words;

Everyday in the Nigeria Music Industry, most of the biggest artistes who never for once help you even when you reach out to them in growing time of need for a collaboration or any other, tend to get away with ripping you off and making profit out of your property.
Dear Peter okoye @peterpsquare I released a song called Ebano on the 8th of August 2015 with hard earned Money which was produced by TeeMode, You copied the hook of the song without any form of royalty that is required or any form of credit to me.. We have seen other cases like when Davido credited Teni for “like that”  it’s clearly true that You rise by lifting others.
Henry knight is not all about this drama, I had to do this, because this is not the first time something like this is happening ..

Mini Cooper Royal Wedding Edition: For the couple that literally has everything

As far as wedding presents go, it sure beats a hand mixer. Mini has created a one-off car to commemorate

As far as wedding presents go, it sure beats a hand mixer. Mini has created a one-off car to commemorate the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The car won't be brought in and parked next to the gift table, however. Instead, it'll be given to a charity chosen by the royal couple, which will then
auction it.

Mini's design team has personalized a
Mini Cooper 2-Door with a hand-made roof graphic and a special interior, which features 3D-printed parts and special embroidery. The idea behind the hand-applied multi-layer roof graphic is that it's a combination of the Union Jack and the Stars & Stripes, representing the couple's nationalities. As an extra touch, the opened doors will project a “Just Married” sign onto the ground. Small detailing around the car is also bespoke, from the chrome finish to the side scuttles.

Inside the Crystal White car is a Satellite Grey leather interior, with a trim strip announcing the first names of the bride and groom, as well as the wedding date. There are also accents in the door cards that match the roof graphic's colors. And just in case you're digging the stylistic vibe of the Royal Wedding Edition (not really the official name, but let's go with it), some of the custom work on the car can be replicated with the Mini Yours personalization program. That includes the option of 3D-printed parts.

After the wedding on May 19
, the car will go to The Children's HIV Association, or CHIVA, who will auction it. Here's hoping it commands a good price.

Leading container port operator, APM Terminals Apapa Limited on Wednesday reiterated its commitment towards enhancing safety at the workplace, as it celebrated the 2018 Global Safety Day.

The Global Safety Day is an annual international awareness-raising campaign to promote safe and secure working environment for workers

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of APM Terminal Apapa, Martin Jacob, said safety has been the company’s watchword over the years and assured that the company would continue to focus on enhancing safety standards.

“For APM Terminals, safety is the license to operate and we have kept that as our watchword and we will continue in that focus. This year, we have decided to hold the safety day in common with our other brands to portray our new theme, which is “Stronger and Safer Together”. With that we can help each other support our safety journey going forward.

“We would not lose focus of what we have been saying all these years. We want all the people that come to our premises to be safe and we want them to go back in the same state that they came to our premises. So we would continue to focus on developing our safety standards.

“We will continue to train and educate our people, including truck drivers. Having truck drivers outside their cabin is a big issue simply because globally, that is where you have more fatalities when you have people outside their safe working zones. 5 Reasons You Should Definitely Consider Moving In With Your Partner Before Marriage

Last week we gave you a list of dilemmas that came with cohabiting with your partner. Well this week, we

Last week we gave you a list of dilemmas that came with cohabiting with your partner.

Well this week, we decided to give you guys all the positive things about living with your significant other and let you decide if the good outweighs the bad.

Here are all the perks of cohabiting with your partner:

1) You spend less, kind of

You kind of spend less than you would if you were living alone. Whether it’s bills, groceries or maintenance (hopefully he’s handy around the house for fixing things) you’ll find that you’ll spend a lot less.

The kind of part? Well, those gifts you get him just because he’s bae and you want to appreciate him have to come out of somewhere.

2) When you’re ill they’ll play nurse

I know, I know this is so cliche but when you’re cohabiting with your partner it means on sick days when the cramps or malaria has you, he’s around to play nurse. He’ll also give you that extra attention while you’re being a big baby.

Image result for black couples cohabiting

Nothing makes you recover faster from a bout of malaria than having you boyfriend snuggle close.

3) You don’t have to miss your partner

Unless when you’re both at work or at separate locations, you pretty much are always together. Coming back home doesn’t have to mean being lonely and pining away from him, it means going to sleep in his arms.

Yup, definitely a perk.

4) You have someone to share your bad days with

You know those really bad days where you can’t wait to lay in bed and let those tears spill? Well, now you have someone to talk who understands you and will make you feel better. You bad days aren’t so bad anymore.

5) You get to have a test run of what marriage would be like

Cohabiting with your partner is the closest you’ll get to being married without actually being married. You get to find out where you both need to make compromises and what works for you both long before you both walk down the aisle.

You really are on the winning side of things and end up solving problems that could arise when it’s too late to solve.
