Tina Knowles has revealed she made Beyonce and Solange attend counselling when they were kids.

The matriarch, 64, said she wanted to be sensitive to the fact Solange, 31, was growing up in 36-year-old Beyonce's shadow as her fame skyrocketed from such a young age.

Speaking to Maria Shriver, Tina explained that she wanted them to get professional help to deal with any issues that could arise early on.

She shared: “I was very sensitive to that [favouritism] because I grew up where I felt like my mother liked my brother more and she loved him more so I was very sensitive to it.

“So I had days that I devoted to Solange...” She went on: “It was tough, she was five years younger than Beyonce and Beyonce was the little superstar in our city.

“So I took them to counselling so that the counselor could help Beyonce be more sensitive to Solange because she couldn't stand her for a minute when they were little... But it made her [Beyonce] more sensitive to who her sister was and what she [Solange] had to deal with because of her.”

Tina added that no one else in the family was keen on the idea because they thought the girls were too young.

“But I wanted Beyonce to be sensitive to the fact that Solange had to deal with the fact of being a little bit in her shadow, and it made her way more sensitive and protective,” she went on.

“And they're still fiercely protective of each other.”

U.S. To Help North Korea Upon Nuclear Surrender – Pompeo

North Korean President, Kim Jong-Un (R) shakes hands with US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo in Pyongyang.  HO / US Government / AFP

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Friday that if North Korea agrees to surrender its nuclear arsenal, Washington will work with Pyongyang to rebuild its tiny economy.

“If North Korea takes bold action to quickly denuclearize, the United States is prepared to work with North Korea to achieve prosperity on par with our South Korean friends,” he said.

Pompeo was speaking after talks with his South Korean opposite number Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha to prepare for a historic June 12 summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Some observers are concerned that South Korea’s desire to build peaceful ties with the North may distance it over time from the US policy of seeking nuclear disarmament at any cost.

But both Kang and Pompeo insisted that they agreed on the need for the “total, complete, permanent and verifiable” denuclearization of the divided peninsula.

And Pompeo said the United States would remain on board to help develop the North’s economy, which has been devastated by its own mismanagement and crippling international sanctions.

Pompeo has had two recent meetings with Kim to prepare for the summit and, last weekend, to negotiate the release of three Korean-Americans held in the North’s jails.

He said he had had good conversations with Kim, who he found to be a focused and rational interlocutor.

“We had good conversations, conversations that involve deep complex problems, challenges, strategic decisions that chairman Kim has before him,” Pompeo said.

The pair, he said, talked “about how it is he wishes to proceed and if he’s prepared, in exchange for the assurances that we’re ready to provide him, if he is prepared to fully denuclearize.

“We’ll require a robust verification program, one that we would undertake with partners around the world which would achieve that outcome,” he warned.

But he added: “I’m confident that we have a shared understanding of the outcome that the leaders want — certainly President Trump and chairman Kim, but I think president Moon as well.”

“I think that we have a shared vision for what we hope. I think there’s a complete agreement about what the ultimate objectives are,” he said.

What is the greatest Premier League winners XI?

Manchester City – Premier League Champions Manchester City have won the Premier League title for the 3rd time this season,

Manchester City – Premier League Champions

Manchester City have won the Premier League title for the 3rd time this season, smashing numerous records in the process.

City have scored the most goals in a Premier League season, won the most games and scored the most goals but are they the greatest Premier League team of all time?

Chelsea held the previous record points total (95) which they set in the 2004/05 season whilst Manchester United famously won the treble in 1998/99.

Arsenal went the full season unbeaten in 2003/04 which is a feat that may never be repeated.

Honourable mentions must go to Leicester City in 2015/16 who shocked the world as well as Manchester United’s team of 2007/08 who won the league and Champions League.

Arsenal’s double double winners of 1998 and 2002 are in the shadow of the Invincibles of 2004.

Manchester City 2017/18

A win at Southampton tomorrow would see Manchester City to 100 points. Considering that the maximum total for a team is 114, that is very impressive.

City have scored 105 goals so far this season and lost just two matches.

Does claiming the records points total make them the greatest team in Premier League history?

Ederson has been phenomenal in goal for the Champions whilst Fabian Delph has been one of the shock performers of the season at left-back.

Kyle Walker has been outstanding at full back whilst Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte have shared the centre back duties.

Kevin De Bruyne has been one of the Premier League’s best players this season. The Belgian, along with David Silva have played a pivotal role in City’s title challenge.

Ilkay Gundogan, Fernandinho and Yaya Toure have taken turns in filling the role of City’s third midfielder.

Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane have been phenomenal this season and they are the reason that City have been so deadly in front of goal. Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus have been superb whenever they have been called upon.

Arsenal 2003/04

Arsenal’s team in 2004 was quite literally, unbeatable.

The Gunners finished the season with 26 wins and 12 draws, losing exactly zero.

Thierry Henry won the Golden Boot that season after scoring 30 goals and to this day, I still can’t understand how he didn’t win the Balon d’Or that season.

Jens Lehmann did a terrific job in between the sticks after he replaced the long standing David Seaman.

Sol Campbell and Kolo Toure were a rock at the back whilst Ashley Cole and Lauren provided both defensive and attacking support from the full back positions.

Patrick Vieria and Gilberto Silva broke down any opposing attacks before starting playing the ball to their forwards.

Freddie Ljungberg and Robert Pires were overlooked by the outstanding Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp who grabbed all the headlines throughout the season.

Chelsea 2004/05

Just one season after Arsenal’s Invincibles, Chelsea perhaps bettered their display.

The Blues claimed 95 points during the season and conceded just 15 goals throughout the whole campaign.

John Terry and Petr Cech were at the heart of the Chelsea defence whilst Makalele had a whole role named after him as a result of his fantastic performances.

Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba enjoyed the beginning of their wonderful partnership as Chelsea walked through the season under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United 1998/99

Manchester United’s team of 2007/08 is often overlooked by the Treble winning team of 1999 and rightly so.

United may have had Ronaldo and Rooney in 2008 but the 1999 side was absolutely unstoppable.

Peter Schmeichel established himself as the best goalkeeper in the world whilst United’s defence made sure the Danish stopper didn’t have much to do.

David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane and Ryan Giggs formed one of the best midfield set ups in history whilst Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole scored for fun.

Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer always added to the suorline off the bench.

The Greatest line up

Is this the greatest ever winners line up?

I have gone for Peter Schmeichel (United) in goal ahead of Petr Cech due to the Danish keeper’s incredible reflexes.

Gary Neville (United) wins the right back spot for me but John Terry and Sol Campbell break into the line up too.

Ashley Cole (Arsenal) was the best left back in the world whilst at Arsenal and could have gone onto become a Gunners legend if he hadn’t joined Chelsea in 2006.

Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) is the only player from the current Champions that makes my greatest XI. The Belgian beats off tough competition from Arsenal’s Robert Pires.

Patrick Vieria (Arsenal) and Frank Lampard (Chelsea) claim the central midfield spots which I am sure Roy keane would disagree with.

Ryan Giggs (United) was at the peak of his career in 1999 and he would have loved to have played behind Didier Drogba (Chelsea) and Thierry Henry (Arsenal).

So that’s my greatest Premier League winners XI. I am sure this could cause quite a debate.

Gaming Laptop vs Desktop – Which Should I Choose?

Gaming laptops have recently come into the discussion; With the release of more and more powerful & compact computer hardware,

Gaming laptops have recently come into the discussion; With the release of more and more powerful & compact computer hardware, Gaming laptops could be a viable option.

If you wanted to get a gaming laptop a few years ago, You would have found some decent ones weighing as much as 9 kilograms. Thought these laptops almost competed with the best gaming computers in the market, but their weight completely kills the idea of having a laptop.

In the recent times, Technology has advanced, and this is not the case anymore. You can find excellent gaming laptops without having to carry a box that weighs 9 kilograms. The questions we are going to focus on in this write up is weather laptops are a viable solution for portable gaming in 2018.

Let’s learn about the advantages and disadvantages of gaming on a laptop compared to a desktop.

Desktop vs Laptop for gaming

The main heat producing components in a computer, i.e. CPU and GPU have a difference in the mobile and desktop variations. A laptop variant of GTX 1080 is not capable of competing with the performance of desktop version. These differences are intentional because of cooling limitations enforced by a laptop.

Ryan from GamingInMyDNA says:

“Laptops are not a great idea if it’s bought solely for gaming. A desktop is far superior in every aspect when it comes to gaming.”

Jimmy from PCGamer concludes:

“With the freedom to easily swap out components, coupled with the power they offer, it’s clear the desktop PC isn’t going anywhere.”

If you are on a budget and looking to buy a new computer for gaming, It’s best to go with a desktop. Desktop hardware is not only cheaper but also allows for ultimate customizability. New parts launch every once in a while and having an option to upgrade/change them is essential.

On the other hand, If you are not much concerned about the budget, Laptops are still not the optimal choice for gaming. There are plenty of laptops available which will allow you to run all latest games but they are insufficient in the aspect of upgradability.

Getting a laptop will save you the hassle of putting all parts together. They come all ready to use. On the other hand, Putting together a desktop is time-consuming and involves an amount of risk regarding part failure. It’s not a reason to not build a computer but surely something to keep in mind, If you are not familiar with hardware and how it works, It’s better to hire someone to assemble the computer for you.

Price to Performance ratio

Desktops are comparatively much cheaper. You can build a decent desktop for $500 while a laptop in the price range would come with outdated parts.

This is a clear victory for a laptop; This is what they are designed for.

What’s Best for you?

Gaming laptops are sure not a bad option especially if you travel and lot and like to game once in a while. These surely aren’t the optimal solution there is; Desktops are way superior and feasible when it comes to better performance. Which one is better for you? It’s not that complicated to figure it out; It’s largely dependent on the kind of use. The following questions will help you make a decision.

  1. Do you travel a lot?
  2. What kind of games do you like to play?

If you travel a lot, It’s simply killing the idea of having a desktop; The options are narrowed down by a lot. You can get a gaming laptop, but they are usually not very comfortable if you plan to work on them as well. Smaller and compact laptops are generally surely enhanced the productivity. So what options are you left with?

Handheld Console

This kind of consoles constitutes Playstation portable, Nintendo switch, which are very capable of running latest games. Using these consoles will limit the accessibility to several game titles, but it’s good enough to full-fill hobby.

If you don’t travel much, There is no reason to get a laptop. Sure they consume a lot lesser space, but they can limit the hardware upgradability and customizability. New gaming hardware releases every once in a while; If you get a laptop, Your options are strictly limited while with a desktop, You can upgrade anything anytime you wish at a very affordable price.

Another factor is that while gaming, You will need an external gaming mouse, mousepad, headphones and sometimes even a keyboard. Moreover, these laptops also tend to release a lot of heat while gaming, This makes them completely unusable unless you have a proper setup.

The verdict

Laptops are very capable of running high-end games while being very portable but they come at a very hefty price tag and require several accessories to provide you with a better gaming experience.

Tony Osauzo and Ighomuaye Lucky, Benin

It was a day of glory for athletes from Kenya, as they emerged winners in the male category while an Ethiopian, Yani Dera Dida, won in the female category in the Okpekpe 10km International Race which held Saturday in Edo State.

Other female athletes from Kenya who took second and third positions, respectively, were Tuei Sandra Chebey who ran 33.33, and Kipyokei Diana.

Speaking to newsmen, Kibet said the weather affected the time he intended to finish on.

“I want to thank God for winning this race. This is my first time to be here. The course was not easy, especially the finishing point. The starting point was okay but the finishing point was hilly.

“The organisation need to put in more for the race to get the gold label. The rain makes the time to go worse.”

Foreign athletes, including their Nigeria counterparts, had earlier began their race 20 minutes before the rain began.

Among dignitaries who participated in the VIP race were former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Governor Godwin Obaseki, Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, Edo Deputy Governor, Hon Philip Shaibu, Edo First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, former Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Clem Agba amongst others.

Nigerian Govt Pays 14 Whistleblowers N439m Reward

Fourteen persons who gave useful tips that led to the recovery of several billions of Naira and some millions in

Fourteen persons who gave useful tips that led to the recovery of several billions of Naira and some millions in hard currency from some corporate tax evaders were paid about N439.3 million this week, Finance minister, Kemi Adeosun, said.

The Minister did not name the offending companies. But, she told reporters in Abuja that about N14.8 billion, consisting N7.8 billion, $378 million and £27,800 were recovered.

She said the recovered monies paid to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) have since been shared.

Following tips by the whistleblowers in line with the whistleblower policy of the federal government, Mrs. Adeosun said the companies were busted after years of either evading taxes or under-paying government as a deliberated policy.

“This is the first time we are having that number (of whistleblowers) where we have concluded either communication with the companies and they have actually paid the money to FIRS,” the minister said.

Since the whistleblower policy was introduced in December 2016, the minister said about 8,373 communications have so far been received from various persons willing to volunteer information on tax evaders.

Out of the number, she said about 1,231 were tips that triggered about 534 investigations so far from where ten accused persons were currently under prosecution, with four already convicted of the offense.

Apart from the changing narrative on tax by the government in recent times, the minister said the extension of the deadline for the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) to June 30, 2018, has seen far more tips received from whistleblowers on tax evasion.

Besides, since the introduction of VAIDS in June 2017 to grant amnesty to tax defaulters, she said more taxpayers have come under the tax net to boost revenue.

Also, over 130,000 high net worth individuals and companies that have potential tax underpayments issues against them have so far been identified.

She announced that the federal government was actively preparing cases for prosecution against tax evaders, assuring that very serious actions would commence by the end of June after the tax amnesty deadline.

Based on the experiences gathered by the whistleblowers’ policy unit of the Federal Ministry of Finance, following its study tour of the United Kingdom, the minister said the government was revising the strategy to accommodate more sophisticated mode of operations.

In addition, the minister said data were being compiled by Project Lighthouse in the Federal Ministry of Finance to combine data from federal, state agencies and foreign countries on tax matters.

So far, Mrs. Adeosun said data have been received from a number of sources, including Lagos, Kaduna, Kano and Ogun States’ land registries as well as the Federal Capital Territory.

Nigeria, she said, has been able to equally request for data from a number of countries, including traditional tax havens and other foreign jurisdictions under the exchange of information protocols.

“Under the exchange of information protocols, this information relates to bank records and financial filings for tax purposes obtained from tax havens who are signatories to the information sharing agreements such as the British Virgin Islands and Mauritius,” she said.

In line with the protocols governing the exchange of information, the minister said received data from overseas countries would only be used for taxation purposes.

Common violations by non-compliant taxpayers include deliberate under-declaration or non-declaration of income earned, including income from government contracts and overseas trading, and collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) and refusing to duly remit to FIRS.

Others included charging of non-allowable personal expenses to company accounts, particularly with reference to overseas school fees; inconsistency between income declared for tax purposes and the value of assets owned.

On 2017 budget performance, Mrs. Adeosun said she was optimistic that by the end of this month, about N1. 5 trillion would have been spent on capital projects.

The minister admitted there were still some irregularities in government payroll system, assuring that government would pay close attention to details to correct all anomalies in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

Although she could not clarify the controversy surrounding alleged over 80,000 ghost workers discovered on the payroll of the Nigeria police, the minister directed reporters’ question on the issue to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

“We are investigating some cases where names on the payroll is different from those on the bank account. In some cases, it is as simple as some people got married and did not update their names. In other cases, it is a matter of fraud,” she explained.

I Am Not Worried About Conspiracy Against Me-Fayemi

A former Ekiti State Governor and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Kayode Fayemi, has said he is not

A former Ekiti State Governor and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Kayode Fayemi, has said he is not bothered about the conspiracy of some aspirants against him.

Fayemi said as a true democrat and leader, he has a large heart to accommodate everybody and hoped that the party would emerge stronger after the primary.

Fayemi spoke with our correspondent on the sideline of the ongoing governorship primary holding at Damlek Event Centre, Ado Ekiti.

He said, “It is a competition; people devise all sorts of means when they are in a competition. What is important is that after the exercise whoever emerges winner will be the candidate of the party and to my expectation, all of us will embrace whoever that person is.”

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development said the exercise was better than that of last week but that it would be too early to give a verdict until after the primary.

“It is a much better arrangement today, it is orderly, the instructions are clear, there is no rowdiness in any part of the exercise.”

“The committee has done an incredibly good job and the security is also tight. People who have no business are not allowed in. In all these, so far so good. But we can’t reach a conclusion until after the whole exercise.”
