Arsenal & Unai Emery

It’s still yet to be made official, but the word is out: Unai Emery will be the new Arsenal manager.

Emery has just left PSG. During his stay in Paris, Emery won the domestic treble in 2017-18, as well as the French Cup double in 2016-17.

Many had thought that Mikel Arteta would get the Arsenal job until the BBC confirmed that Emery will succeed Arsene Wenger instead.

Arsenal odds on signing Thomas Lemar

Many Arsenal fans will be wondering who Unai Emery may sign once installed at the club.

For months there have been links to Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

Looking at the current market for Lemar, the bookies have Arsenal priced at 10/1 to land the French international.

Man City are 5/2 to sign Lemar, while Liverpool are 7/2.

Arsenal odds on signing Riyad Mahrez

Leicester City’s Algerian star Riyad Mahrez is another player who has long been linked with Arsenal.

Many believe that Mahrez will finally get to leave Leicester this off-season.

Arsenal are 12/1 to sign Mahrez from the King Power Stadium. Man City are the favourites at 3/10, while Liverpool are 7/1.

Hector Bellerin’s Arsenal future

Will Hector Bellerin still be an Arsenal player come the start of next season?

Bellerin was targeted for criticism last season as the Spanish right-back regressed.

As Arsenal’s backline failed to impress as a whole, Bellerin was a disappointment in the full-back slot.

Barcelona are 9/4 to sign Bellerin this summer, while Juventus are 3/1 to complete a transfer.

Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are both priced at 16/1 to sign Bellerin.

The agent of Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj has this evening moved to shut down any and all speculation surrounding his client’s future.

Solid stopper

Hysaj, a 24-year-old right-back who can also play on the left, has been on the books of Napoli since 2015, when he made the move to the Stadio San Paolo from fellow Italian outfit Empoli for just 5 million Euro.

The Albanian international immediately managed to usurp Partenopei legend Christian Maggio as the club’s first-choice right-full, with his increasingly impressive performances over recent seasons having led to growing interest on the part of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester United have been the two sides most persistently-linked with potential moves for Hysaj, with claims emerging from Italy back in March having insisted that the stopper was set for a summer move to a European heavyweight.

This was due to Tuttosport’s report that Hysaj had been informed by an unnamed club that they would be activating his 50 million Euro release clause (which is only valid between June 30th and July 15th) this summer, rendering Napoli helpless in their hopes of holding onto the 37-time capped international.

‘Remain in Naples’

However, following persistent speculation in the months that have followed that Hysaj looked increasingly likely to make the move to Old Trafford to link up with Manchester United, the stopper’s agent has this evening moved to shut down any and all rumours surrounding his client’s future.

Speaking in an interview with Radio CrC, Mario Giuffredi explained:

‘He’s a Napoli player and he’ll remain in Naples.’

‘We’ve also started talking about a new contract. He’s very young and from next year he’d only have two years on his contract.’

‘Talks have already begun with Napoli, then if they want to send him away… I don’t think that will happen though.’

The case filed by Mrs Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, to challenge the ‘No Debit Order’ placed on four Skye Bank accounts harboring a total of $15.5 million was stalled at the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Tuesday.

Trial judge, Justice Mohammed Idris was said to be away, attending a workshop. Consequently, the parties in the case agreed to come back on June 19.

Mrs Jonathan had filed the suit in 2016, to challenge the freezing of the accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Joined as defendants in the suit are Skye Bank and a former aide to President Jonathan, Waripamo-Owei Dudafa.

Also joined are four companies namely: Pluto Property and Investment Company Ltd; Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Ltd; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Ltd; and Avalon Global Property Development Ltd.

Though the accounts were said to be opened in the names of the four companies and linked to Mr Dudafa, Mrs Jonathan had filed the suit to lay claims to the funds.

Buhari Operates A Corruption-Infested Fuel Subsidy Regime – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of operating a corruption-infested fuel subsidy regime. The party challenged

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of operating a corruption-infested fuel subsidy regime.

The party challenged the president to submit himself for an independent inquest on the handling of the N1.4 trillion oil subsidy regime as well as the alleged complicity of his presidency in other exposed financial impropriety by cronies of his government, particularly in revenue collecting agencies.

In a statement issued on Monday, May 21, 2018, by Kola Ologbondiyan, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, the party said such inquest, which is already backed by state governors across board, will not only expose humongous corruption but also show the world that our African Union, AU, Anti-Corruption champion had not been totally spotless.

“We invite Nigerians to note that the demand by governors to probe all subsidy deals since 2015 is a direct indictment on President Buhari as the Minister of Petroleum,  particularly, following allegations that the stolen funds are being warehoused to fund his 2019 re-election bid and the opulent lifestyle in the Presidential Villa.

“The party notes that if President Buhari allowed the inquest, it will reveal how our president, who had queried the genuineness of the oil subsidy payments by PDP administration and described the process as a fraud, had secretly engaged in underhand oil subsidy deals.

“Nigerians will also understand how the cost of fuel geometrically rose from the PDP subsidised cost of N87 to N145, representing a criminal N58 tax, per liter of fuel.

PDP said that it took over two years of secret oil subsidy deals under President Buhari, before it was exposed last December.

According to the opposition party, the presidency and the NNPC had since then been seeking ways to cover the fraud which included claims that local consumption suddenly jumped from 28 million liters per day to 60 liters per day.

“PDP considers this as a fabrication to retire the billions being stolen as subsidy, even when statistics by the National Bureau of Statistics and the reality of the retarded purchasing power of citizens, under the prevailing economic recession, do not validate such claims.

“Nigerians, therefore, deserve to know who authorised the payments and the identity of the beneficiary companies, if any.

“The PDP is happy that state governors across board and the National Assembly are on the same page with our party in condemning the humongous fraud going on under President Buhari’s fuel subsidy.

“The PDP, therefore, demands that the inquest covers the alleged N15 billion stolen from the NHIS, the N18 billion stolen from the PINE initiative, the alleged leaked memo of N9 trillion corrupt oil contracts at the NNPC, the reported diversion of N1.1 trillion worth of crude last year and why indicted Presidential cronies and fronts have not been prosecuted,” it added.

The final piece of the inline-6-powered, midsize Mercedes-AMG lineup has been added: the 2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 sedan that will use
the same 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six as the CLS53, and E53 coupe and cabrio. Producing the same 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque, it features the same 48-volt ultra-mild
hybrid assist combined with a starter-generator and a small electrically-driven compressor in the intake tract to help reduce turbo lag.

Power is fed to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission, the only one offered with this powertrain. Everything rides atop a sport-tuned air suspension. Considering the many similarities, it's no surprise the E53 sedan is just as fast as its two-door siblings. Its 4.4-second run to 60 mph is the same as the cabrio, and a tenth behind the coupe. That time is also the same as the sleeker CLS53 sedan. The E53 sedan also has the same electronically limited top speed of 130 mph.

Visually, the E53 picks up cues from its two-door iterations. It gets twin bulges in the hood, an aggressive diffuser design on the rear bumper, and twin exhaust tips on each side. Things are mostly typical
E-Class inside, but it comes with a standard
AMG steering wheel. AMG sport seats and carbon fiber trim are available options.

The sedan goes on sale late this year, as will the coupe, convertible and CLS. Pricing has yet to be announced for any E-Class or

Why Is A Norwegian Newspaper Going After Tidal?

Norwegian Newspaper

It seems Tidal is under attack — an attack started by a Norwegian newspaper. First, the newspaper claimed that the music streaming service owned primarily by rap mogul Jay-Z was faking streams, especially for Beyonce and Kanye West.

Now Norwegian financial newspaper Dagens Næringsliv (DN) is claiming that Tidal is not paying record labels on time.

This begs the questions: Why is the Norwegian media going after Tidal so hard? Is it because of Tidal rival Spotify?

The timing is curious as the attacks on Tidal started less than a month after Spotify went public. The latest revelation, according to the newspaper, is that Tidal is “significantly behind with its royalty payments to music industry rights-holders,”
Music Business Worldwide reported.

DN claims Tidal is late in paying three major international record companies, including two Norway-based music businesses–independent label Propellor Records and its distributor, Sony-owned Phonofile.

“It is correct that there are delays in payments from Tidal,” said Sveinung Rindal, CEO of Phonofil /head of The Orchard in Norway.

“We have not been paid since October,” Frithjof Boye Hungnes, CEO of Propeller Recordings, added.

Other parties claiming that Tidal has not paid them for months include successful local artists Bjørn Gunnar Sando–drummer and manager of Hellbillies–in addition to ‘Ravi’ Johansen, Music Business Worldwide reported.

Just last week, Tidal was accused of manipulating streaming numbers for its two biggest ever exclusive album releases–Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” and Kanye West’s “The Life Of Pablo.” The newspaper said it had obtained a hard drive which contained data that proved Tidal had faked streams.

Tidal has denied all these charges and has accused accusing DN of a “smear campaign” against it.

Yet these newspaper reports have led to Tidal being put under investigation.

“Norwegian collection society Tono, which represents around 30,000 songwriters, has filed an official police complaint against Tidal, encouraging the authorities to look into the claims of streaming manipulation,” Music Business Worldwide reported.

And, Danish collection society Koda has announced it will be undertaking an independent audit of Tidal data. It’s been reported that Tidal reduced its recorded music royalty payout in April last year from a 62.5-percent share of its revenue to 55 percent.

Still, why is it only the Norwegian press and artists that are complaining about Tidal? Does It have something to do with Tidal rival, Spotify, which is a Swedish
entertainment company? Or is it because Jay-Z took over the former Norwegian company?

In 2015, Jay-Z bought Aspiro, Norwegian parent company of a streaming service formerly known as Wimp, for $56 million.

In September of that year, he tweeted that Tidal had hit the 1 million-member milestone. Internal payments to record labels cited in Norwegian publication Dagens Næringsliv said it was closer to 350,000. Six months later, Tidal claimed it had reached the 3 million subscribers. The Norwegian newspaper said was closer to 1 million. “No further numbers have been circulated,” Variety reported. In 2017, Jay-Z sold a third of the company to Sprint based on a $600 million valuation.

In late April, Spotify went public. Spotify claims 157 million monthly active users in 61 countries, 71 million of which are in its premium paid-subscription tier.

“While Spotify is losing vast sums of money every year, its path to profitability is unclear and it has hedged its bets on Wall Street by going with a direct listing rather than a traditional initial public offering, it has a solid lead globally over the No. 2 service, Apple Music, and its name has become synonymous with streaming for many people,” Variety reported.

Spotify is still the leader, especially in the U.S. The company claims 41 percent of the U.S. market share, beating music services from Apple, Amazon, Pandora, Soundcloud and Tidal. However, “Spotify has yet to turn a profit, despite increasing revenue 38 percent to about $5 billion in 2017 from the prior year. Losses topped $1.5 billion for 2017, up from $662 million the prior year,” USA Today reported.

Still, it seems time will tell why Tidal is under attack. Maybe the outcome of the investigation will reveal why. But for now, the negative publicity isn’t helping Tidal in its struggles.

Obasanjo, Other Economic Saboteurs Have No Love For Nigeria – Buhari

SAN FRANCISCO, May 22, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Abuja said those who mismanaged Nigeria’s economy in the past,

SAN FRANCISCO, May 22, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Abuja said those who mismanaged Nigeria’s economy in the past, through fraudulent electricity projects and misuse of revenue earnings from oil, had no love for the country.

The president inferred that former President Olusegun Obasanjo whose administrated expended billions of dollars on electricity infrastructure without improving Nigeria’s power generation and supply challenges duped the country.

Receiving members of the Buhari Support Organisations (BSO) led by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali, at the Presidential Villa, President Buhari, according to a statement by Femi Adesina, his spokesman, urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and ensure that only ‘‘people of conscience are in-charge of governance at all levels’’, as the nation prepares for general elections in 2019.

‘‘I challenge anybody to check from Europe, America and Asia; between 1999-2014, Nigeria was producing 2.1 million barrels of crude oil per day at an average cost of 100 USD per barrel and it went up to 143 USD.

‘‘When we came it collapsed to 37 – 38 USD and later was oscillating between 40 and 50 USD.

‘‘I went to the CBN Governor, with my cap in my hand, and asked if we had savings. He told me we had only debts, no savings. Some of the roads were not repaired since the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) days.

‘‘I don’t care the opinion you have about Abacha but I agreed to work with him and we constructed roads from Abuja to Port Harcourt, Benin to Onitsha and so on. We also touched education and health institutions.

‘‘One of the former Heads of State (referring to Obasanjo) was bragging that he spent more than 15 billion USD on power in Nigeria. Where is the power?’’ the President said.

On the mismanagement of the economy by previous administrations, President Buhari noted that the perpetrators lacked imagination and plans for the development of the nation.

‘‘Sometimes, I wonder about those who can afford to send their children abroad for studies and yet continue to sabotage the economy, I wonder what kind of Nigeria they want their children to return to and work. There is a lot of lack of imagination.

‘‘If you are working for the country, then you shouldn’t be misappropriating and misapplying public funds the way people did,’’ he said.

The President noted that under his watch, the 2016 and 2017 budgets recorded the highest appropriation and releases in capital projects, with over N2.8 trillion disbursements in two years.

The President urged Nigerians to reject those bent on dividing the country along religious and ethnic lines, warning that they do not mean well for the country.

‘‘I have said severally that we do not have any other country than Nigeria and we will remain here and salvage it together.

‘‘We have nothing to regret. Absolutely nothing. God has given Nigeria everything. We are rich in human and material resources. Let us keep on praying to God to put people of conscience in-charge at all levels,’’ he said.

On the activities of the support group, President Buhari apologised for not rallying them before announcing his intention to seek re-election in 2019 during a meeting of the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress on April 9, 2018.

He thanked members of the group for their resolute support to him as a Presidential candidate in 2015 and all through his term in office, adding that their voluntary sacrifices were an indication of their trust and belief in the great future of the country.

In his remarks, Ali said the group and majority of Nigerians are passionate about a second-term for President Buhari because of his integrity, honesty, love and patriotism.

He noted that President Buhari has entrenched fiscal discipline and prudent management of resources, improved the nation’s security and delivered on his promise to revamp agriculture, as a major revenue earner for the country.

THEWILL recalls that there has been no love lost between Buhari and Obasanjo, who supported his election in 2015. The former president has however publicly asked Buhari to not seek reelection and has been campaigning and mobilizing against his reelection bid.

Ethereum: Here are some things to know about the 2nd most popular cryptocurrency

At the moment, there are thousands of cryptocurrencies being traded among people, businesses, crypto investing enthusiasts and many more. Bitcoin

At the moment, there are thousands of cryptocurrencies being traded among people, businesses, crypto investing enthusiasts and many more. Bitcoin is the most popular and arguably the most traded out of them all, but just like a kingdom has a King and a Queen, the crypto world has a queen — Ethereum.

You most likely have heard or stumbled upon the word Ethereum…or not. That’s because it is the 2nd most valuable cryptocurrency in the world right after Bitcoin. In this article, we would be breaking down Ethereum into bits for the sake of beginners and the curious cats that get intrigued at the call of the name Ethereum.

If you wish to know what Ethereum is, how it works, how to trade it, and where to get it without getting entangled in the obscure technical aspect, then you should read on.

History of Ethereum

Ethereum was founded not too long after Bitcoin began to pique the interest of so many people across the globe. But unlike Bitcoin whose founder and history have no face and the story behind it seem sort of a mystery, Ethereum has a founder whose “true name” and history is known.

Ethereum was invented by a Vitalik Buterin, a Russian programmer in 2013 but was formally announced and launched in 2014. Vitalik was believed to have dropped out of college to invent Ethereum to fill in some Blockchain void and purposes left out by Bitcoin.

What is Ethereum?

Ethereum logo

Ethereum is a distributed public network that runs on Blockchain network technology similar to that of Bitcoin. However, unlike Bitcoin which is the currency itself, Ethereum isn’t a currency. It is only a network on which the original currency called “Ether” runs on. ETH is shortened form of “Ether” used on many trading platforms.

Unlike Bitcoin which is solely a tradeable cryptocurrency, Ethereum has its own purposes. Aside trading Ether[eum], it is used majorly by application developers to pay for transaction fees and services on the Ethereum network. In fact, the use of Ethereum is, at the moment, limited to paying for stuff on the Ethereum network.

Ethereum blockchain has its focus on running the programming code of any decentralized application. And for any developer to use this platform, he/she has to pay using the only currency recognized in the Ethereum network — Ether.

So it is safe to say that if you aren’t a developer on the Ethereum network, you are only interested in the business and trade aspect of the cryptocurrency. Which leads us to listing ways through which Ethereum can be gotten, stored, and traded.

How do I get Ethereum?

Like most cryptocurrencies, you can own Ethereum either by creating it (mining) or buying it. The former is a far more complex, time and energy consuming process than the former. Also, you’ve got to have some technical know-how of the process before you can deliver into mining. Cryptocompare has a detailed and comprehensive guide on how to mine Ethereum the DIY style on your Windows PC.

If you do not have the time, energy and technical knowledge of the mining process, but you have the cash, you can resort to buying it from platforms that sell. As at the time of writing this article, the value of Ethereum is pegged at 1 Ethereum to USD 688.17.

If you chose to go down the mining road, you get a reward of 5 Ether every 12 – 15 seconds; the time it takes to mine an Ethereum block.

Exchanging Ethereum: Buying / Selling

Ethereum can be purchased and sold on exchange platforms that deal with cryptocurrencies…and there are many of them. The processes are quite similar and easy and can be carried out on the same exchange platform. So..did you just mine Ethereum and you want to sell them? Or just recently bought some and wish to sell them? Or you need to buy some Ethereum? The platforms below are trusted crypto-exchange site to get that done.

All that is mostly required is to register, during which some information like country, date of birth, email address, and bank information are requested.

Coinbase, Gemini, Bittrex, Bitfinex, Changelly, Binance and Kraken are some renowned echanges to trade Ethereum. Majority of exchange platform also offer wallet services (keeping your Ethereum with them) but this is advised against as the probability of losing your Ethereum in the case of a hack is almost 100%.

Securely keeping your Ethereum

As listed here, there are different type of wallets that you can securely keep your Ethereum with minimal fear of losing them. Here are some of the most popular wallets to keep your Ethereum you mined or bought:

Ledger Nano S

The Ledger Nano S is a hardware wallet, one of the most secured wallet to store your Ethereum. It keeps your cryptocurrency offline and only you know your private key. Ledger Nano S is relatively affordable (cost about $60 to $80) and there are useful tutorials on how to use it — there’s one embedded below

Trezor is another hardware wallet you can trust with your Ethereum. Formerly used to store only Bitcoin, it now supports the Ethereum.

Mist is an online and official wallet for Ethereum. Setting up and accessing Mist is quite easy and straightforward as you only require to set up a password to access your Ethereum. But be careful though, you do not want to forget this password as there is no “guaranteed” way to recover your password when you lose it. There are a couple of (Python) programming tricks and code that could help but may not work.

Other renowned wallets you can keep your wallet are MyEtherWallet, MetaMask, Exodus, Jaxx etc.

Hopefully, we have been able to summarize some a couple of things you should know about Ethereum: its history, uses, buying and selling it, storing it etc. in the simplest way possible. Should you have a question, please drop it in the comments box and it will be answered.

‘The Buhari Regime Is Plotting To Assassinate Me’ – Governor Wike

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, raised the alarm on Sunday, May 20, 2018, that the Federal Government was plotting to assassinate him in a crowd and claim accidental discharge.

Wike disclosed this during the third year anniversary thanksgiving service of his administration at the Living Faith Church, D-Line in Port Harcourt.

The governor said, “Intelligence report available to us as of this morning indicated that they are plotting to assassinate me in a crowd and claim it was an accidental discharge.”

Explaining that the plot of the All Progressives Congress Federal Government and its associates would not intimidate him, Wike stated that he remained committed to the defence of democracy and Rivers State.

He said that the plan would fail because God would continue to defend him, adding that there was a high level of conspiracy against the state.

“The level of conspiracy against Rivers State is unfortunate. Instead of focusing on governance, they focus on how to assassinate me or frame me up,” the governor added.

Wike told the church that the APC-led Federal Government, through the Inspector General of Police, plotted to plant millions of dollars and AK-47 rifles at his Abuja residence when the police went to an Abuja Court to get a search warrant.

He further stated that the court stopped the police from their “evil plot” when it ruled that they (police) should not search his Abuja residence.

“I am not afraid of my residence being searched by the police, but I know their evil intention,” he said.

Wike said that the state government had come to thank God for His protection in the face of a continuous plot by agents of the APC Federal Government.

He noted that despite the declaration by a former governor that his administration would not be able to pay salaries let alone do projects, his administration had succeeded in delivering outstanding projects.

In his remarks, the Rivers State Pastor of the Living Faith Church, Pastor Isaac Folaji, said thanksgiving engendered growth and blessing.

He said thanksgiving enhanced God’s protection and financial multiplication, adding that God would bless Rivers State as a result of the dedication service.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has said Rivers people will sack Governor Nyesom Wike in the 2019 general elections.

He said, “I am confident that Rivers people are done with him (Wike); he has betrayed us, he has robbed us of our dignity, he has robbed us of our resources. Enough is enough.

“Let me repeat it again, on the 29th of May next year by 12 noon, the APC will be in the Government House, Port Harcourt. Governor Wike will have one of two options. Option number one, go back to his village in Rumueprikom; option number two, he will be in prison. If I don’t have confidence that Rivers people want him out, I will not be saying so.
