APC suspends Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani

The State Working Committee (SWC) of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Cross River State has suspended the Minister of Niger

The State Working Committee (SWC) of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Cross River State has suspended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani.

On Saturday, a member of the SWC, Chief Godwin Takus, told DAILY POST that the Minister was suspended because he held several meetings with a view to create parallel state executive council (EXCO).

“State Working Committee (SWC) has suspended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Pastor Usani Usani. The man has been going against most of the Party (APC) rules. He called illegal meetings with intention of forming parallel State Executive Committee (EXCO).

“The Party severally called him and warned him but he did not listen. Last year, he appeared before the State Working Committee to explain his role in some of those meetings.

“He told us he doesn’t owe us any explanation and he was warned. He promised us that he will be of good character from that moment. But he keeps holding different meetings both here in the state and Abuja.

“Recently, he tried to constitute a parallel EXCO against the one that has been in existence from the inception of the party, so we have no option than to suspend him and recommended for his expulsion from the party at the National level

“That is just summary of all we did. We truly tried to manage the problems that associated with him since he left us as State Chairman.

“Even his emergence as State Chairman was questionable. He came in by way of imposition to all of us but we thought he will be good and try to manage the affairs of the Party.

“But unfortunately, he didn’t. The opportunity we gave him, he refused to use it for the good of the Party. We suspended him to move the Party forward ahead for 2019 elections” he stated.

Speaking further on the chances of the APC wining the forthcoming elections, Chief Takus said, “We just have to win election in Cross River State and (he) Usani has been a cloak in the wheel of progress of the Party in the state.

“Almost everybody in the Party in the State will tell you that the man is a major problem and because of him the Party was not moving forward. We have condoned him enough”.

On the issue of substantive Chairman, he said “You know the National (leadership) arranged to have a congress in November 29, 2017 but somebody came up and gone to court and stop the Party from doing congress for reason best known to him.

“As law abiding party, we had to stop the congress and listen to the man’s grievances. But if the matter is not resolved at the proper time, that congress and convention will come up and we will certainly have a substantive State Chairman. The State Caucus will be inaugurated between now and February.”

When DAILY POST called the Minister’s phone number to find out if he has been informed of the suspension, his line was off for hours.

Herdsmen killings: Buhari’s silence will destroy APC – Adesina

A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Dr Ayobami Lam Adesina, has warned that

A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Dr Ayobami Lam Adesina, has warned that the menace of herdsmen killings across the country would destroy the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The APC chieftain said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration had yet to take proactive steps to address the situation.

Fielding questions from Punch yesterday, Adesina also warned the Nigerian Government against establishing cattle colonies in states.

Adesina, son of a former governor of the state, late Lam Adesina, pointed out that killings by herdsmen and tussle over land could lead to an ethnic problem in Nigeria.

He said, “You may not agree with the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, but you have to salute his style in the handling of the herdsmen issue.

“So our governors should also take responsibility instead of running to the Federal Government.

“This is becoming a problem for our party. The issue of herdsmen killing could be a deciding factor in the 2019 elections.

“It could divide the party and the country too. The Federal Government should allow each state to come up with its own policy.

“There is a danger that this could turn to an ethnic issue because Buhari is a Fulani man like the herdsmen; so, I feel concerned that the Federal Government had not paid enough attention.”

Prepare for defeat in 2019 – APC tells Umahi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi says Governor Dave Umahi will be defeated in 2019. The party stated this

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi says Governor Dave Umahi will be defeated in 2019.

The party stated this in a five-point communiqué jointly signed by Mr Victor Umeh and Mr Victor Elem-Nnaji, its Zonal Chairman and State Secretary respectively at the end of Ebonyi South Senatorial District stakeholders’ meeting in Afikpo.

It said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led administration of Gov. Dave Umahi had failed to deliver good governance and credible leadership to the state.

“The APC Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone leaders and stakeholders deeply regret the monumental failure in leadership in the state and have accordingly passed a- vote- of no confidence on the administration.

“The administration has not only failed the people of the zone but also the entire state with youth unemployment and lack of solid infrastructure bedevilling the state.

“Our party is more prepared than ever, poised, determined and has risen to confront whatever challenges that may stare it in the face as it galvanises the people to wrestle power from PDP.

“We enjoin the people to remain calm and not to despair and we are confident of providing competent, credible, reliable and people oriented leadership in 2019,’’ the PDP said.

I have no plan to dump APC – Segun Oni

Former Ekiti State Governor and Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Segun Oni, has dismissed reports

Former Ekiti State Governor and Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Segun Oni, has dismissed reports that he was planning to defect to another party.
Reacting to news report that that he was on his way out of the APC to form a coalition being put together by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to oust President Muhamadu Buhari, Oni said there was no iota of truth in the publication.

Oni, in a statement signed by his media aide, Mr. Steve Alabi, described such report as an imagination of the writer, who he said must be thinking from the soul, rather than using his brain.

Oni said: ”Why would I decamp to any other political party, either existing or yet to be formed aside the APC. I have said times without number, and I want to reiterate it, as far as Segun Oni is concerned, the reason why Im contesting this election is because of my party. Therefore if Im not the candidate of my party, I will still work for my party, if i lose the upcoming Ekiti APC primaries, i will remain loyal to the party. Why will I leave the APC? I have been here; we conscientiously fought the PDP out of power, with everything we have got.

”Those peddling the rumours are either bystanders or those who don’t believe in the agenda of President Buhari and who are now trying to find ways of rubbishing people who believe in the President.

”I’m a member of the APC and by the grace of God, the Deputy National Chairman. I don’t know any other party. I have said that if I don’t pick the APC ticket, I would not go to any other party; I don’t have a plan B. My plan A, B or C is APC because I’m not desperate.

”Why would I be desperate when I know that honour has no equivalent? So if anybody tells you I want to go to any other party, the question you should ask the person is whether I told him so or if I held any meeting with him where such matter was discussed.”

The statement added that it was incongruous that the Deputy National Chairman, who just received a PDP top-notcher, Senator Basheer Garba Mohammed into the APC fold in Kano over the weekend, could be decamping himself.

“It is not the first time that rumour-mongers are spreading such fake stories of decamping about Oni. The other time, they said he was headed to APGA. This time, it is a party that is yet to be birthed. Much as Oni respects and reveres former President Obasanjo, the truth of the matter is that there is no truth whatsoever to this publication. Oni is not leaving APC. Why would he leave? He is the leading candidate for the governorship ticket in Ekiti and the Number 2 man in the party at the national level.

“After the failed APGA story, they want to come out again using Oni to gain prominence or sell their platform, but they have forgotten that the credentials of Chief Segun Oni could not be faulted, so, I will advise them to try another person, but, for Segun Oni, they are already a failure on arrival,”‎ he said.
