Arturo Vidal looking for a summer transfer

After three seasons with Bayern Munich, and at 31, Arturo Vidal is looking for a new challenge.

The Chilean midfielder had an up and down season in 2017/2018. Vidal was part of the Chile squad that failed to reach the World Cup.

But, Vidal can point to a Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich to soften the blow of not playing in Russia and the injury that curtailed his campaign in April.

Vidal is widely expected to leave Bayern Munich in the coming weeks and increasingly is being linked with a move to the Premier League.

Arturo Vidal no longer interested in joining Chelsea

In recent years, Vidal has been heavily linked with Chelsea, mainly due to the fact he enjoys a fine relationship with Antonio Conte.

However, with Conte set to leave Chelsea, Vidal has another reason meaning he doesn’t want to head to west London.

According to Chilean journalist Maks Cárdenas, Vidal is no longer interested in Chelsea as they are not in the Champions League next season.

Manchester United remain Vidal’s primary choice in England, according to Cardenas.

Bayern Munich would sell Vidal for 50 million euros. A fee of 35 million euros is also possible.

Vidal is currently recovering from a second knee operation. First team opportunities at Bayern Munich are expected to be restricted by the free transfer signing of Leon Goretzka from Schalke.

Bayern’s Vidal Out For Rest Of Season

Arturo Vidal is out for the rest of the season, Bayern Munich announced Tuesday a day after confirming the Chile midfielder will miss next week’s crunch Champions League semi-final clash at home to holders Real Madrid.

The 30-year-old Vidal limped out of training with a knee injury on Sunday and underwent minor surgery on Monday.

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes had hoped Vidal could be fit for their European clash against Real next Wednesday or the return leg in Madrid on May 1.

But Bayern revealed Tuesday the injury is worse than first thought. A loose piece of the knee joint was removed and Vidal’s meniscus was repaired, said a statement.

“Arturo Vidal will be out for the rest of the season,” Bayern said.

Losing the tough-tackling midfielder for forthcoming key games is a blow to Bayern’s hunt for the treble including Tuesday’s German Cup semi-final against his old club Bayer Leverkusen.

A cup victory in Leverkusen would put Bayern in the May 19 final in Berlin — another step towards repeating their 2013 treble.

The Bavarian giants have already secured a sixth consecutive Bundesliga title, holding a massive 20-point lead over Schalke at the top of the table with four games remaining.

Meanwhile, Bayern have announced they will play pre-season friendlies against Paris Saint Germain in Klagenfurt, Austria, plus games against Juventus and Manchester City in July on a tour of the USA.

Arturo Vidal is a major doubt for Bayern Munich’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid after coach Jupp Heynckes revealed on Monday that he needs minor knee surgery.

The Chile international limped out of training on Sunday and Bayern are waiting to hear how long he will be sidelined for.

“Arturo went down without any contact and injured himself,” said Bayern head coach Heynckes.

“A part of the joint has come free. He needs a small operation and will be out for the short term, but we don’t yet know how long for.”

Bayern host holders Real next Wednesday, April 25, in the first leg of their semi-final at the Allianz Arena, with the return leg in Madrid on May 1.

However, Heynckes did not rule Vidal out of facing the Spanish giants.

“He would have liked to play against Real,” said Heynckes.

“Arturo is a fighter, he’s a very professional player and he really wants to play.

“He is one of those players who can really bite his teeth, he is not squeamish and (he is) highly professional.”

Nevertheless, losing the 30-year-old for forthcoming key games is a blow to Bayern’s hunt for the treble.

Vidal will miss Tuesday’s German Cup semi-final against his old club Bayer Leverkusen.

French midfielder Corentin Tolisso is also struggling to recover from a knock.

A cup victory at Leverkusen would put Bayern in the May 19 final in Berlin — another step towards repeating their 2013 treble.

The Bavarian giants have already secured a sixth straight Bundesliga title, holding a massive 20-point lead over Schalke at the top of the table with four games left.

Manchester United to lodge €48million bid for Bayern Munich star

Serious move

Manchester United are set to lodge a €48million bid for one Bayern Munich star this summer and will offer him a very healthy €14.4 million per season.

That player comes in the form of Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal who has been linked with Manchester United on a number of occasions.

Not only that, he was linked with a move to Chelsea when Jose Mourinho was in charge and it looks as though the boss is a fan of Arturo.

Chilean newspaper “La Cuarta”, as cited by Sport BILD, claim that the Portuguese boss is ‘serious’ about bringing the midfielder to Old Trafford.

Though, Chelsea want the player again due to Antonio Conte’s relationship with him at Juventus in which the two spent time together.

That could leave the two sides going head to head for his signature this summer if he was to leave Bayern Munich.

At this time, it looks as though he will be leaving the club this summer with his contract set to run out in 2019.

That means that this summer is realistically the last chance for Bayern to pick up a significant fee for the player.

Safe to €48million is certainly an attractive figure for a player with only one year left on his contract.

It could now be down to which club Vidal will choose, linking up with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford or joining his old boss Conte at Chelsea.
