Nigeria forward Olanrewaju Kayode was in action for Shakhtar Donetsk who were crowned Ukrainian league champions after beating visiting Veres Rivne in their penultimate league game of the season on Sunday.

Kayode, who joined Shakhtar on loan from Manchester City in January, was brought on in the 78th minute of the game.

The former Austria Wien star has now added the league title to the Ukrainian Cup which Shakhtar won following their 2-0 final win against Dynamo Kyiv last week.

Shakhtar retained the Ukrainian league title and have now won it 11 times.

In the Belgian Championship play-offs also on Sunday, Super Eagles forward Moses Simon scored the only goal which gave Gent a 1-0 home win against Anderlecht.

Simon scored in the 66th minute to give Gent the win against Anderlecht who had Henry Onyekuru on the bench for 90 minutes. It was his Simon’s sixth goal in 28 league appearances this season for Gent.

Gent are fourth on 11 points in the six-team Championship play-offs and will qualify for the Europa League play-offs if they finish in the position.

Anderlecht are third on 12 points and will qualify for the Europa League automatic spot.

And in the final day in the Scottish Premiership, Nigeria defender Efe Ambrose was in action for Hibernian who played out a thrilling 5-5 home draw against 10-man Rangers in the six-team Championship group clash to decide qualification for Europe.

Ambrose was however replaced with 20 minutes remaining in the game.

The draw means Hibernian finished fourth on 67 points in the final league table (their points from the regular season added to points gained in the Championship group tie), and miss out on qualification to Europa League which was secured by Rangers.

Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa scored in CSKA Moscow’s 2-1 home win against Anzhi on the final day of the Russian Premier League season on Sunday.

The win means CSKA finished second on 58 points in the league table and secure automatic qualification to next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Lokomotiv Moscow were crowned league champions despite losing 2-0 away to Arsenal Tula also on Sunday.

Musa, who only rejoined CSKA Moscow on loan in January from Leicester City, opened scoring for his side on nine minutes.

Anzhi were back on level terms thanks to Arsen Khubulov in the 33rd minute.

In the 61st minute, Vitinho scored what proved to be the winner for CSKA Moscow as they nicked automatic qualification ahead of Spartak Moscow who lost 1-0 at home to Dinamo Moscow.

Spartak secured a Champions League qualifying round spot for finishing third on 56 points.

Musa’s goal against Anzhi was his seventh in 10 league appearances for CSKA.

Also on Sunday, Nigerian forward Sylvester Igboun ended his seven-game goal drought as he scored in FC Ufa’s 5-0 home win against Tosno.

Igboun scored on 50 minutes to make it 3-0 in favour of Ufa who finished sixth this season and picked a Europa League qualification slot.

The Nigerian ended the season with seven goals in 26 league appearances.

And in the relegation battle, Super Eagles defender Bryan Idowu featured for Amkar Perm who settled to a 0-0 home draw against 10-man FK Akhmat.

Also in action for Amkar was 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner Fegor Ogude who was brought on in the 74th minute.

Following the draw, Amkar will now take on one of the two teams from the  National Football League (second-tier) in the Russian promotion/relegation play-off tie.

He had also scored twice against Krasnodar a fortnight ago. The 25-year-old doubled his side’s lead in the 11th minute and sealed the emphatic win in the 49th minute to take his tally to five in 10 Russian Premier League games.

In England, Nigeria forward Alex Iwobi ended his nine-game goal drought in the EPL when he scored Arsenal’s fourth goal in their 5-0 drubbing of Burnley on Arsene Wenger’s last home game in charge of the club at the Emirates Stadium. Iwobi, making his 20th start of the English Premier League season for Arsenal in the win, last scored a goal against Crystal Palace on the 20th of January.

Super Eagles star Victor Moses made his third assist on his 24th English Premier League start for Chelsea who defeated Liverpool 1-0 at Stamford Bridge to boost their chances of a top four finish. Moses, who was cautioned by Mike Taylor in the 81st minute, was subbed off for Davide Zappacosta seven minutes later.

In Turkey, Nigeria defender Shehu Abdulahi made his 14th start for Bursaspor who lost 2-1 to Fenerbahce in the Super Lig. His compatriots, William Troost Ekong and Mikel Agu, were unused substitutes in the encounter. Troost-Ekong has made 26 appearances for the club this season, scoring twice while Mikel Agu has 22 games under his belt, scoring twice as well.

In the Italian Serie A, Nigerian striker Simeone Nwankwo featured for Crotone in their 2-1 loss away to Chievo Verona. Simy has scored six goals in 21 Serie A games.

In France, Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem played for 76 minutes for Nantes who suffered a 2-0 defeat to Montpellier. He was replaced by Alex Kacaniklic in his 22nd appearance of the season in Ligue 1.

In the lower leagues, Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, kept his 14th clean sheet for RC Deportivo Fabril who defeated Cerceda 1-0 on Sunday.

The game was the 24thof the season for the 19-year-old shot-stopper. He has conceded 17 goals so far this term for RC Deportivo Fabril who are second in the Spanish Segunda B, the third division.

At Estadio de Gran Canaria Stadium, the Nigerian pair of Oghenekaro Etebo and Imoh Ezekiel were handed starts by Las Palmas who lost 1-0 to Getafe on Sunday. While Etebo saw 90 minutes of action, Ezekiel was replaced in the 61st minute.

Brown Ideye also featured only in the first half for relegated Malaga who lost 3-0 to Alaves. Isaac Success was an unused substitute for Malaga.

In the Dutch Eredivise, Umar Sadiq was missing in action for NAC Breda who drew 1-1 with FC Twente on Sunday. Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi was also missing for ADO Den Haag in Sunday’s 3-2 win away at Roda JC Kerkrade.

In Norway, Aremu Afeez played his eighth game for IK Start who lost 3-0 to Odds Ballklubb.

The game was Moses’ 33rd in all competitions this season for Chelsea who will face Manchester United in the final of the Cup on the 19th of May.

At the Emirates, Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi made his 22nd English Premier League appearance this season for Arsenal in Sunday’s 4-1 win over West Ham.

The game was Alex Iwobi’s 61st EPL appearance since he made his EPL debut against Swansea in October 2015 and his 30th win. Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang replaced the Nigerian international in the 70th minute.

In the English Championship, Sammy Ameobi played all 90 minutes for Bolton Wanderers who slumped to a 4-0 defeat at home to English Premier League-bound side Wolverhampton Wanderers, the club of Carl Ikeme.

The game was Ameobi’s 33rd of the season. Bolton remain two points clear of the relegation zone, in 21st position, with 40 points from 44 games.

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina played for 44 minutes before he was replaced by Fikayo Tomori in Hull City’s 5-5 draw with Bristol City. The game was Aina’s 44th appearance this season for Hull in the English Championship.

In Spain, Brown Ideye came on for the last 10 minutes for relegated Malaga who strolled to a 2-0 home win over Real Sociedad. Goals from Adrian Gonzalez and Youssef En Nesiry sealed the win for Malaga. The game was Ideye’s 10th appearance in the Spanish LaLiga. He has scored one goal. Isaac Success who was an unused substitute has played six times.

 The pair of Oghenekaro Etebo and Imoh Ezekiel were both handed their 11th and third starts of the LaLiga season for Las Palmas who suffered a 4-0 home defeat to Alaves. While Etebo saw 90 minutes of action, Ezekiel was replaced in the 71st minute of the defeat.

Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa bagged a second half brace to help CSKA Moscow come from a goal down to beat Kuban Krasnodar 2-1 in a Russian Premier League game on Sunday. The goal was Musa’s third in seven Russian Premier League games for CSKA Moscow.

Sylvester Igboun played all 90 minutes for FC UFA in Sunday’s goalless draw with Lokomotiv Moscow. The Nigerian international was cautioned in the 35th minute of the game.

 In Germany, Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun was left out of FSV Mainz’s squad that lost 2-0 to Augsburg. Balogun has made 14 German Bundesliga appearances this season. Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah on his part replaced Quaison Robin for his fifth game of the season.

In the Slovakian League, former Nigerian youth international, Rabiu Ibrahim, bagged his first goal in the Fortuna Liga as Slovan Bratislava claimed a 3-1 win over his former team AS Trencin. The former Gent midfielder was replaced in the 78th minute in his 21st game of the season.

In Cyprus, Nosa Igiebor came on at half time to score his first goal for Anorthosis Famagusta in their 3-1 loss to Apollon Limassol. Igiebor was introduced in the 45th minute and he scored on 74 minutes.

The Nigeria forward came on for Danny Simpson with 28 minutes left to play.

Iheanacho last scored an EPL goal in the colours of Manchester City 15 months ago.

Iheanacho’s goals this season have come in the Emirates FA Cup for the Foxes.

His compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi, made his 28th English Premier League appearance in the encounter.

In the English Championship, Super Eagles forward Sone Aluko played the whole of Reading’s 3-3 draw at home to Derby County.

The game was Aluko’s 34th this season.

At Camp Nou, FC Barcelona came a goal down to annihilate Girona 6-1 who were without Olanrewaju Kayode in 
Saturday’s LaLiga clash.

Olanrewaju is yet to feature for Girona in 2018 after rejoining the club from the Christmas break.

In Austria, Ibrahim Al Hassan played all 90 minutes for Austria Wein in their 2-1 defeat to Admira Moedling.

The game was his 17th in the Austrian Bundesliga.

The former Akwa United forward has failed to score in his last 14 games. He has scored once since he joined the Austrian club.

Ideye put his team ahead in the 27th minute but second half goals from Francis Coquelin and  Daniel Parejo from the spot in the 85th minute brought Malaga back to earth.

Nigeria forward Isaac Success was not included in the match day squad.

Oghenekaro Etebo made his third start for Las Palmas who lost 2-1 at home to Sevilla also on Saturday. Imoh Ezekiel replaced Gabriel Penalba in the 42nd minute on his debut but could not salvage a point for Las Palmas.

The third Nigerian at the club Emmanuel Emenike was not listed due to injury.

In Germany,  Victor Osimhen made his seventh substitute appearance (eighth in the Bundesliga) for Wolfsburg coming on in the 84th minute for Renato Steffen in their 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich at the  Volkswagen Arena.

In the Dutch Eredivisie, Tyrone Ebuehi made his 23rd league appearance for ADO Den Haag who drew 1-1 with Willem II with Bartholomew Ogbeche firing blanks. Ogbeche has made 14 league starts this season and has scored nine goals.

In the Scottish Premiership, Chidebere Nwakali made his first start for Aberdeen on Saturday in their 2-0 loss to Hibernian that paraded Efe Ambrose for the entire duration of the encounter.

Nwakali was withdrawn in the 65th minute for Kari Arnason shortly after he was yellow carded in ten  minutes earlier. For Ambrose it was his 28th appearance this season.

In Belgium, Joseph Akpala played for 69 minutes for Oostende who forced Royal Antwerp to a goalless draw.

Former Flying Eagles skipper, Abdul Ajagun, was on for 83 minutes in Kortrijk’s 1-0 win away at Lokeren. Ajagun has made 20 league appearances for Kortrijk this season.

In Turkey, Raheem Lawal and Aminu Umar both started for Osmanlispor in the 3-2 loss away to Sivasspor.

While Lawal was withdrawn at half time for Payam Sadeghian in his 17th game of the season, Umar saw through the entire duration.

Umar has featured in 21 league games this season and has scored four goals.

Super Eagles defender Uche Agbo was an unused substitute for Standard Liege.

Christian Luyindama opened the scoring for Standard Liege on eight minutes before Awoniyi equalised on 19 minutes.

In the 47th minute, Sebastien Pocognoli put Standard Liege 2-1 up, but Mouscron drew level thanks to Dorin Rotariu on 65 minutes off an assist from Awoniyi.

Standard Liege were reduced to 10 men as Luyindama was sent off which Mouscron capitalised on as Awoniyi scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-2.

With three minutes left, Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez drew Standard Liege level before Duje Cop hit the winner on 89 minutes.

In the 90th minute, Mouscron were also reduced to 10 men with the sending off of Omar Govea.

Awoniyi has now scored six goals in 24 league appearances for Mouscron so far this season.

Manchester City on-loan midfielder, Chidiebere Nwakali, was an unused substitute for Aberdeen who beat Dundee United 4-2 in the round of 16 of the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

The win saw Aberdeen advance into the quarter-finals of this season’s Scottish Cup.

In Switzerland’s top flight, former MFM FC striker, Stephen Odey, was benched for 90 minutes for FC Zurich who pipped St. Gallen 2-1.

They returned to winning ways following last weekend’s 4-2 home loss to Thun with Odey scoring for FC Zurich.

And in the Netherlands Eredivisie (top flight), Super Eagles defender, Tyrone Ebuehi, featured for 90 minutes in ADO Den Haag’s 0-0 away draw against Groningen.

The draw was ADO Den Haag’s third in their last five league games (one win, one loss).

Ajayi laid off the pass for Abdalla El Said to make it 2-0 on 77 minutes before getting on the score sheet himself, adding the third goal for the Egyptian champions on 82 minutes for his fifth league strike.

Ahly have now won eight straight league games in the Egyptian top flight in the current campaign.

And in the Belgian Jupiler League  (first division), Joseph Akpala scored Oostende’s only goal in their 1-1 away draw against Zulte-Waregem.

Zulte-Waregem’s goal was scored by Peter Olayinka.

Olayinka opened scoring for Zulte-Waregem in the 25th minute, before Akpala equalised for Oostende in the 33rd minute.

Akpala has now scored a goal each in his last three league games and has netted four goals in 22 league appearances this season for Oostende.

Olayinka’s goal was his second in his last two league games for Zulte-Waregem.

And he has now scored seven goals in 19 league outings for Zulte-Waregem so far this term.

In Switzerland, young Nigerian striker, Stephen Odey was on target for FC Zürich but it was not enough as they lost 4-2 at home to Thun in the Swiss Super League

The game was Zürich’s first as the second half of the Swias Super League resumed.

Odey who was brought on in the 62nd minute, scored seven minutes later to make it 3-2.

It was the second time in the competition the 21-year-old Nigerian was scoring a brace this season. He has made 14 appearances in all competitions and has scored five goals this season.

 

His compatriot Wilfred Ndidi who came on as a substitute in the encounter sealed the win with the fifth goal. Ahmed Musa was left out of the matchday squad.

 

At the Saint Mary’s Stadium, Nigerian forward Isaac Success was an unused substitute for Watford who crashed out of the Emirates FA Cup competition after losing 1-0 to Southampton on Saturday 

 

Jack Stephens scored the only goal of the game in the fourth minute. Success’ only appearance so far this season was in the Carabao Cup and he has been named as a substitute five times in the English Premier League for Watford.

 

At the KCOM Stadium, Super Eagles defender Ola Aina played all 90 minutes for Hull City who booked a fifth round berth by defeating Nottingham Forest . Jarrod Bowen and Nouha Dicko were on target for Hull while Apostolos Vellios scored a late consolation for Forest.

 

Former Nigeria forward Shola Ameobi played for 84 minutes for Notts County who forced a replay against Swansea City after their 1-1 draw at Meadow Lane.

 

In the English Championship, Bright Enobakhare came on as a late substitute for Wolverhampton Wanderers who defeated Ipswich Town 1-0 at Portman Road to move 12 points clear of second-placed Derby County who have a game in hand.

 

In Spain, Olarenwaju Kayode was benched for the entire duration of Girona’s 0-0 draw away to Malaga. Olanrewaju is yet to feature for Girona since returning to Spain late from the Yuletide break. He has made 13 appearances in all competitions this season.

 

Young Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem was left out of Nantes’ match day squad that defeated Guingamp 3-0 in a Ligue 1 clash on Saturday. Awaziem has played 17 times for Nantes, scoring once. He has missed Nantes last two Ligue 1 games.

 

In Scotland, Efe Ambrose’s return to Celtic Park ended in defeat as Celtic edged Hibernian 1-0. The Nigerian defender played the entire duration of the game.

 

Super Eagles defender Shehu Abdullahi made his debut for Bursaspor in their 3-1 away defeat to Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday. Abdullahi’s Super Eagles teammates Mikel Agu and William Troost-Ekong were also in action. Bursaspor are now ninth in the league table with 25 points.
