‘Buhari Style Of Gov’t Has Destroyed National Assembly And Judiciary’ – Fayose

Ayodele Fayose, the Ekiti State governor, has lamented the alleged destruction of the Legislative and Judicial arms of government by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, raising the alarm that “democracy in Nigeria is under serious threat, with the constitution appearing to have been suspended”.

The governor said; “The once respected National Assembly and Judiciary have been so badly blackmailed such that for the first time in the history of Nigeria, functionaries of the executive arm of government now hold the two arms of government with contempt, treating them as if they do not exist.

Even those who invaded the senate and took away the Mace are being protected by President Buhari and his men.”Speaking through Lere Olayinka, his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, on Sunday, May 13, 2018, Governor Fayose, who described the Legislative and Judicial arms as the pillar of democracy, said; “Even when Nigeria was under military rule, our judiciary was not this ridiculed, with the government choosing which court judgment to obey and which one to ignore.”

The governor pointed out that; “President Buhari’s persistent refusal to obey court orders, refusal of the his men to obey summons by the National Assembly and most importantly the withdrawal of $496 million from the Excess Crude Account, ECA, without approval of the National Assembly and inspite of pending court case are indications that the constitution has been suspended and Nigeria returned to full-fledged dictatorship.”

Fayose described the Senate President, Bukola Saraki as the most subdued National Assembly leader in the history of Nigeria, saying; “Should President Buhari succeeds with his second term bid, no one should bother going to the National Assembly because he will rule like a feudal lord, with general authority over other Nigerians.

“Democracy is endangered when the executive arm of government goes about demonizing the Judiciary as being corrupt and the National Assembly tagged as a gathering of rascals who are contributing nothing to governance. Unfortunately, that is what the Legislative and Judicial arms have suffered under this government.

“In disobedience to court order that they should be released, the leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat, have been detained for more than two years without trial.

“Also, Sambo Dasuki (rtd) has been in detention for over two years even when many courts in Nigeria and the ECOWAS Court have ordered for his release.

“Several resolutions made by the National Assembly have been ignored, including ones bothering on the welfare of Nigerians. Statutory appointments that require Senate confirmation are now being made unilaterally. Even those whose nominations were rejected by the Senate are still holding the same offices for which their nominations were rejected.

Legal Implication! Kiss Daniel Changes His Name To Kizz Daniel

Nigerian international pop star known as Kiss Daniel has subtly changed his moniker to Kizz Daniel. This change was done unannounced

Nigerian international pop star known as Kiss Daniel has subtly changed his moniker to Kizz Daniel. This change was done unannounced to his social media handles.

This action stems from the legal sanction that the singer was slammed with by his erstwhile record label; G-Worldwide. Last year, the singer made an undue exit from the label and went ahead to announce that he is now being represented by a self-owned label – Fly Boi INC.

Although it was reported that the singer came out victorious in the legal battle, he lost the right to the name “Kiss Daniel” as it was trademarked by his ex-label.

Kizz Daniel as he will now be referred as has embraced his reality and his moving on with the new moniker. The singer is however yet to tender an official statement to this effect.

2018 Budget Jibrin Stirs Another Controversy, Alleges Fresh Padding

The former chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin, yesterday started up a fresh controversy

The former chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin, yesterday started up a fresh controversy over the 2018 appropriation bill passed last week by the National Assembly.

The lawmaker, who represents Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency of Kano State, suggested that the budget was ridden with fraudulent insertions, popularly referred to as bugdet padding.

Jibrin, in a post via his Twitter handle @AbdulAbmJ, hinted that nothing had changed in the country’s appropriation system since he raised the alarm over alleged budget padding in 2016.

He, however, offered to share his thoughts on the 2018 budget in subsequent tweets.

“I resumed work in good time to catch up with budget 2018. Has anything changed in our appropriation process and the budget itself since 2016? Within the week, I will be sharing my perspectives and discussing some details of the budget. I will gladly answer your questions as well,” the tweet reads.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Jibrin recently returned to his legislative duties following his suspension by the House for making the budget padding allegations against the House of Representatives leadership in 2016

It was gathered that on resumption, he raised eyebrows about some items infused in the budget during an executive session of the House shortly before the budget was passed last Wednesday.

“You know he was former chairman of the appropriation committee,  so he knows the nitty-gritty; he knows how and where budgets can be padded . But the Speaker didn’t allow him to press further with his allegations,” a source close to the lower chamber said.

According to the source, Jibrin’s anger was fuelled because of the meagre budgetary allocation to his constituency in the 2018 budget.

“I also think he is angry because of the small financial value of the projects allocated to his constituency. Even first term lawmakers attracted  bigger projects to their constituencies,” he stated.

Jibrin, who has been silent since he returned to the House, did not respond to inquiries on the fresh development. This could be due to his agreement with the leadership of the House not to speak to the media on matters relating to the Green Chamber.

The House had in March lifted the suspension imposed on  Jibrin following the alarm he raised on the alleged padding of the 2016 budget. The lawmaker was suspended for over 180 legislative days from the chambers. The House had demanded an apology from Jibrin but he vowed never to do so.

However, Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, in March displayed a letter of apology which Jibrin reportedly wrote to the House, adding that the lawmaker was free to resume his duties unless there are new developments.

Osinbajo Chairs LEADERSHIP Conference & Awards, To Deliver Keynote Address

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has confirmed his attendance of the LEADERSHIP Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony billed to hold on

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has confirmed his attendance of the LEADERSHIP Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony billed to hold on Thursday at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

The vice president who is chairman of the occasion and Special Guest of Honour will deliver the keynote address at the event scheduled for 10:00am.

Also confirming his attendance is former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, who is the Guest Speaker at the event. Duke will deliver a lecture on the theme of this year’s conference, ‘Towards Financially Viable State Governments’.

The conference and awards ceremony is an annual event where the LEADERSHIP Group Limited celebrates those who distinguished themselves in the public and private sectors in the preceding year.

Confirming that the event is taking place on Thursday, the board and management of LEADERSHIP Newspapers Group Limited had also hinted that many other state governors will also be in attendance at the event as guests of honour to add their perspectives on the theme of this year’s edition of the conference and awards.

A statement signed by the Group Managing Director (GMD) of LEADERSHIP Group Ltd, Alhaji Abdul Gombe, noted that the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, will be the royal father of the day.

Gombe noted that the International Conference Centre, Abuja, was chosen as venue for the event in view of the high-powered guests who would be attending the awards conference.

He assured that all logistics have been put in place to accord the event the deserving honour and prestige.

In December 2017, LEADERSHIP had in line with its annual tradition of celebrating individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour and made outstanding contributions to Nigeria and the world in the course of the year, picked the nominees for its 2017 awards.

For the year 2017, two eminent Nigerians were jointly nominated for the award of LEADERSHIP Persons of the Year.  They are Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Barrister Sharon Ikeazor.

Recall that the trio of Kebbi State governor, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele and the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu were LEADERSHIP Persons of the Year 2016.

Explaining the criteria employed by the newspaper’s Board of Editors in arriving at the choice of the duo, Gombe said Adeosun jointly won the coveted LEADERSHIP Person of the Year 2017 award for steering the country through its worst recession in 29 years in spite of the headwinds and daunting odds caused by years of profligacy and neglect.

He explained that LEADERSHIP’s choice of the minister was also informed by her vision of “setting out a clear macro-economic framework for recovery and growth within the last one year and for her steadfastness, firmness, economic activism and courage that led to the introduction of strong policies that have helped to rebuild confidence in the economy in the face of some of the most gloomy forecasts”.

For Barrister Ikeazor, the GMD said she jointly won the LEADERSHIP Person of the Year 2017 award  “for conceiving and executing a new approach to pension administration that has rekindled hope in many, and for transforming the Pension Transitional Arrangement (PTAD) into a standout agency able to deliver on its core mandate and bring smiles to the faces of millions of pensioners within so short a time”.

In the other categories of the LEADERSHIP Annual Awards, three governors emerged joint winners of the Governor of the Year 2017 Award. They are Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, who was nominated for sustaining and sometimes exceeding the very high standard set by his predecessors in critical sectors as well as his focus and commitment to the ideals of governance; Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, for making a clear difference in infrastructural development and Bayelsa State governor, Henry Seriake Dickson for paying particular attention to education beyond the ordinary, making it free for all up to the secondary school level, including free textbooks and uniforms and without making noise about it.

The award for Politician of the Year went to former interim chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Makarfi, while Bank of Industry clinched Bank of the Year award.

Public Service Person of the Year went to the immediate past Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Mahmud Bello, while the Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc, Peter Amangbo, clinched the Banker of the Year Award.

The Business Person of the Year was roundly won by the Founder of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company, Mr Innocent Chukwuma, while the Federal Inland Revenue Service won the Government Agency of the Year 2017 award.

Other award categories are as follows: Company of the Year, which was won by Air Peace; Brand of the Year, Zenith Bank Plc; Telecoms Company of the Year, ntel; Product of the Year, Labana Rice; CEO of the Year, Chief Executive Officer of Eta-Zuma, Innocent Zuma and the E-Commerce Company of the Year, which went to Yudala, one of the online shopping and trading portals.

The Artiste of the Year 2017 award went to Kaniwood Actress, Rahama Sadau, even as the LEADERSHIP Sports Persons of the Year award went to the D’Tigress team members who won the 2017 edition of FIBA Women’s Basketball Championship.

The LEADERSHIP Outstanding Young Persons of the Year award went to Attahiru Murtala Aliyu and Fatima Oyiza Ademoh for earning a PhD at the age of 26 and for  winning several awards respectively.

APC Admits Crack Within, Moves To Placate nPDP

The governing All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday owned up to the notion that there is indeed a crack within its

The governing All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday owned up to the notion that there is indeed a crack within its fold.

Specifically, the party admitted that all the grievances expressed by leaders of the defunct new People Democratic Party (nPDP) were genuine.

This was the outcome of yesterday’s meeting between the national leadership of the APC and members of the Abubakar Kawu Baraje-led faction of the nPDP

The Baraje-led nPDP had a fortnight ago stormed the party’s national headquarters in Abuja where it demanded an urgent meeting with the leadership of the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari “within seven days” to address grievances, including alleged marginalization of its members.

The nPDP submitted a four-page letter alleging that its members have been badly treated, sidelined and persecuted.

Despite effort by a splinter group within the nPDP led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu to stop the party leadership from addressing the issues raised by the Baraje faction, the APC leaders met with the power bloc yesterday.

After the meeting, which held at the national secretariat of the APC, the party revealed that a meeting between party leaders and the presidency geared towards addressing the myriad of issues raised by the faction is underway.

On his part, leader of the group, Baraje, dispelled insinuation that they were planning to ditch the APC for opposition party.

Speaking after an hour of closed-door deliberations, the party’s deputy national chairman, Senator Shuaibu Lawal, who led other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) members to the meeting, said the party was taking up the disaffections seriously.

Senator Shuaibu who stood in for the national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said, “We have not yet resolved. They wrote a letter to us; they are party men; they have grievances; we looked at the letter; their grievances are genuine. And they requested a meeting within seven days and before the seven days expired. I called them and they were not ready to come; they said we should shift the meeting till today, which we did.

“So, we are listening to them. We have listened to them and we are taking up their matter seriously; we will address it. We don’t ignore our people except if you don’t send your grievances to the party, but if you send, we will always address your grievances.”

On his part, leader of the nPDP, Baraje described yesterday’s meeting with the APC leadership as a good start and a good beginning.

Asked whether he was satisfied with responses his group got from the closed meeting, Baraje said, “So far so good, we have just started and when you start a race, you don’t say whether somebody wants to see you until you are getting to the middle or to the end. But it is a good start; it is a good beginning.

“As you are aware that we requested that we wanted to see the party, and the party, very sensitive party, very responsible party, responded to our requests adequately and we think it is a very encouraging time.

“Since last week, they have gotten across to us but because of one logistics or the other, we couldn’t come until today. We begged the party to shift the day till today and today we have seen our party.

“We are party members, this office is our office, and we have only come home to discuss those observations we copied you people when we wrote in our letter. The meeting was very beautiful.”

On the allegation raised by Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led faction of the nPDP, Baraje said he was not ready to respond to such an issue because a member of his group had responded.

He said, “I am not ready to do that because somebody had earlier responded to them adequately. I think the former Youth Leader of the defunct nPDP, Timi Frank, responded to them and once somebody has responded, there is no need beating around the bush.

“In any case, in any group, particularly political groups, you are bound to have a splinter, while they splint is best known to them. As far as we are concerned, the group that sent me here, or sent us here are 95.9 per cent intact”.

Oshiomhole Visits Kalu, Says APC Not All-comers Affair

Meanwhile, former governor of Edo state and a contender for the national chairmanship position of the governing APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said yesterday that despite the party’s membership drive, the APC must not be an all-comers affair.

Speaking when he visited former Abia state governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, at his Abuja office, he said as a party, the APC should be able to tell some people whose belief run counter to the ideals of the party to look elsewhere for memberhip of a political party.

The former labour leader further said that the party must critically look at the intending defectors and their antecedents before admitting them to the party, stressing that the party should only admit people who share its ideology especially those who will add any value to it.

Oshiomhole who expressed concern over the continued feud between the executive and legislative arms of government also said that the party cannot afford to be an onlooker in the current rift between both arms of government.

According to him, the responsibility of a political party goes beyond providing a platform for elections.

He said the APC should monitor the conduct of its members as well as how elected representatives of the people are keeping faith with the manifesto of the party.

Oshiomhole said, “We are in our critical position in our country and over the next couple of months, the political environment will be heated up when all the aspirants and candidates would have emerged and our party is expected to, as the governing party, lead by example.

“I believe that after the historic amalgamation of the four and half parties that now form the APC, it is enough for us to have welded into a party and provide the kind of leadership that Nigerians expected from a political party that is based on the principle of social democracy, which was why we carefully chose the name Progressives.

“It is not a secret that we have our own fare share of internal challenges. I believe that there is nothing wrong in parties having internal challenges, but what matters is a leadership that has the capacity to manage those challenges and encourage internal democracy and evolve a style of leadership that is based on inclusion rather than exclusion”.

Oshiomhole further noted that the APC must strengthen the process of bottom approach to decision making so as to ensure all inclusiveness in the process of making decisions.

He continued: “The organs of the party must be made to function. When organs of the party are not functioning, then we are just a collection of individuals. It is my hope that we move beyond creating a platform that is simply there for election purpose, just like a public taxi.

“It should also be a platform to continue to engage all those who are elected on the platform of the party and ensure that what they do and how they do it is in line with the manifesto and the core values that bind the party together.

“A political party ought to be governed by a set of values and unless you subscribe to those values, you are not supposed to be a member. I think it is the duty of a political party leadership to monitor the activities of government and the various organs and where there are disagreements, you intervene in a way that will provide solution”.

Noting that the party cannot be a spectator in the faceoff between the executive and the legislature, Oshiomhole hailed Kalu for staying true to his dreams, both in business and in politics.

On his part, Kalu promised to support the chairmanship aspirant for as long as he continues to remain on the same page with President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former Abia governor who expressed optimism that there will not be any rancour after the party’s convention urged Oshiomhole to remain a statesman and ensure that party leaders whom he would be succeeding are treated with respect while out of office.

He said, “We are in the journey together where President Muhammadu Buhari will offer himself to Nigerians to re-contest in the next few months. It is a long journey. You have us as the leader of the party in Abia. Personally, I will support you. You are a strong candidate.

“Be assured of our prayers and as long as you support our president, I will support you. If you don’t support our president, I will not support you. There will be other candidates, but we pray that you succeed”.

What Has Been 2Face Greatest Mistake???

Born Innocent Ujah Idibia, Tuface,  who later rebranded as 2Baba has to be one of the most loved contemporary Nigerian

Born Innocent Ujah Idibia, Tuface,  who later rebranded as 2Baba has to be one of the most loved contemporary Nigerian musicians. The Jos bred singer is one of the biggest frontiers of Nigerian and African music in the 21st Century. There are only a few things one might mention that 2Baba may not have accomplished, because looking at his calibre of artiste he has done it all. He has been there, done that and even done some more.

Within his over 2 decades of musicianship, the Hypertek Digital boss is one of the most decorated Nigerian artistes there is. His personal awards outnumber is age and he is already 42. Talking about enjoying international exposure via music, 2Baba has been there. He has had the opportunity to grace some of the biggest stage in the world, one of which would be performing at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He has toured the world with his music. Most importantly he has lived the LIFE again and again, the most notorious baby daddy of his time before finally settling down as a married man. Oh let’s not forget his discography has an enviable amount of hits. Where is league of artistes have stagnanted or dried up, the “African Queen” crooner keeps the flow intact like an oasis.

However, no matter how glowing 2Baba’s memoir (bio) is written, the 42-year-old singer has failed in a certain area, as a musician, a senior industry colleague.

An artiste in the caliber of Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia should have son!!!

By a son, it does not mean a biological son, which of course he has fathered male children. 2Baba really does not have someone he has mentored directly to greatness. He has failed to reproduce his success in any young artiste. In deed, without mincing words the Nigerian music legend as he is fondly referred to is a huge huge inspiration to a lot of artistes in the Nigerian music industry. Several stars have been inspired by him to pursue their love for music professionally and have also succeeded at it, but there is no one directly mentored by 2Baba that has replicated half of his success. No not one!!!

The story about the rise of 2Baba is quite familiar, beginning from his days at IMT Enugu to forming the boy band Plantashun Boiz and subsequently going solo is well known. His spell at Kennis Music which largely boosted his solo career is all common knowledge. The end of the Kennis Music era and the start of Hypertek Digital follows sequentially. In all these the “Only Me” crooner has really not helped unleash a budding talent to big music stars like Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, Kiss Daniel etc.

Oh let’s not talk about Dammy Krane who is just a flash in the pan. All things being right, he should be playing in the leagues of Davido, Wizkid or Olamide. Dammy Krane had a promising start at the early stages of his career, but it’s a sad reality there was not deposit of 2Baba’s greatness in him not even half.

Over the years as the Nigerian music industry continues to flourish, certain buzzing music stars at the moment owe their success directly to certain elders in the industry. Wizkid is directly linked to Banky W, Skales too. Wande Coal has D’banj & Don Jazzy to thank. Tiwa Savage,  Reekado Banks, Korede Bello’s success in music is owed to Don Jazzy.

The likes of Davido, Olamide, Wizkid can say they have directly impacted the growth of buzzing music stars like Mayorkun, Dremo, Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Mr Eazi etc. But that cannot be said emphatically about our dear 2Baba.

If there anything 2Baba has failed at, it would be his inability to impact a young artiste’s career from a place from oblivion to sweet stardom. The Nigerian music legend has been great at a lot of things but has not been a good mentor to upcoming acts. The word here is mentor not the loosely used role model.

After Dammy Krane and the other almost unknown acts parted ways with 2Baba’s Hypertek Digital it has only been a one man affair. That changed when a new act was signed to the label called OTiKe. It’s somehow strange a lot of folks don’t know he is now an artiste under 2Baba’s Hypertek Digital.

Perhaps, it may not be too late if our G.O.A.T begins to groom OTiKe into an act that would drop back to back hits and comfortably challenge for top awards and win.

2Baba’s greatest mistake would be that up till now he has not been able to birth a successful music star in the league of Wizkid or Davido he can truly be proud of when he is done. Perhaps it’s not too late!

Lagos Gov’t Rescues 24 Children From Illegal Orphanage Home (PHOTO)

The Lagos State Government on Monday, May 14, 2018, shut down another illegal orphanage home, Pro Labore Der (labour for

The Lagos State Government on Monday, May 14, 2018, shut down another illegal orphanage home, Pro Labore Der (labour for God) in Badagry area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria and rescued 24 children.

Officials of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development stormed the orphanage home at Gbetewo Village in Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Badagry and shut it for operating without approval.

The existence of the illegal home came to the notice of the Research Department of Ministry through a distress call which detailed the activities of the home to enforcement officers of the government who swung into action to carry out the rescue operation.

While the operator of the home absconded at arrival of government rescue team, children rescued during the operation were within the ages of four months and a pregnant 17-year old girl.

Agboola Dabiri, a Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, said the State was not going back on its words to make all illegal homes non-existence, stating that the children’s right was a priority to be protected.

Dabiri expressed grievances at uncertainty surrounding the general well-being of children in illegal homes, reiterating that unregistered homes had been given an ultimatum to register under government, as failure to comply meant automatic closure and charging operators to court.

“For no reason should children be deprived of their rights. Adequate care, feeding, shelter, clothing, and healthcare is their right. We are not against adoption, but patronage of illegal orphanage is a crime,” he warned.

He debunked believes that churches and mosques were eligible to register homes, saying religious organizations had no right to certify and authorize the operation of homes in the State.

“It is fine for churches, mosques to own orphanage homes. We are not against that, but they do not have the right to give licences or authorize the operation of a home. Only the Ministry has the mandate of regulating and authorizing operation of homes. No rest for illegal homes, nobody should hide behind religious organizations,” he said.

The Commissioner urged landlords in the State not to accommodate anyone seeking shelter in their houses, but must be aware of activities of their tenants to avoid harbouring criminals.

While commending the traditional chief of Gbetewo, Gabriel Babatunde Mehoto who was instrumental in the rescue, Dabiri called on members of the public to support government in its course to achieve a better and safer society.

Bola Shagaya Loses Bid To Recover N1.9 Billion Seized By Buhari Government

A Federal high court in Lagos, South West Nigeria on Thursday, May 17, 2018, dismissed a suit filed by Hajiya

A Federal high court in Lagos, South West Nigeria on Thursday, May 17, 2018, dismissed a suit filed by Hajiya Bola Shagaya, a Nigerian businesswoman, against the Federal Government, urging the court to set aside an order of the court freezing her account suspected to be containing N1.9 billion realised from unlawful activities.

Oluremi Oguntoyinbo, the presiding judge, in her verdict did not only declare the order made by her learned brother, Justice Muslim Hassan  in freezing the account of the businesswoman as being valid but also declare that Bola Shagaya’s suit before her to vacate the said order as an abuse of court process, as she could not sit as an appellate court to vacate the order of the same concurrent jurisdiction.

Shagaya, had in a suit filed before Oguntoyinbo urge the court to set aside the order made by another judge of the Federal High Court, Lagos, Justice Muslim Hassan  freezing her bank accounts at Unity Bank Plc, but the Federal Government contended that the accounts in contention were used by the businesswoman to launder billions of naira for former First Lady, Mrs. Dame Patience Jonathan.

In an affidavit sworn to by  a litigation officer, Sulaiman Ali and filed before the court by a Lagos lawyer, Napoleon Emeaso-Nwachukwu, the deponent averred that sometimes in the month of October and November 2016, Shagaya issued several payment instructions to her bank, Unity Bank Plc in respect of third party transactions, but that to the applicant’s chagrin, the said payment instructions were declined by her bank, in spite of the fact that the applicant had enough money standing to her credit with her bank to cover the payment instructions prior to issuing the instructions.

Upon inquiry, the bank intimated the applicant that it received a letter from the Federal Government directing it to place a Post No Debit on her account with it.

Thereafter, the applicant instituted a suit at the High Court of Lagos State against Unity Bank Plc, but in its defence,  the bank annexed a copy of a court order to the court process it filed to justify its refusal to honour the numerous payments instructions issued by the applicant.

Sulaiman averred further that the ex-parte order of the court attaching the applicant’s property made pending the determination of an investigation and possible prosecution of the applicant was devoid of a definite time frame and capable of lasting in perpetuity.

There is no criminal suit pending against the applicant in any court of law anywhere prior to, or after the ex- parte order now sought to be set aside was made.

Consequently, the applicant contended that it would be the interest of justice for the court to set aside the order.

However, in a counter affidavit sworn to by an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Musbahu Abubakar, and filed before the court by EFCC’s legal officer, Idris Mohammed, the deponent averred that EFCC received a cogent, direct and positive intelligence of a case of conspiracy, unlawful enrichment and money laundering against the applicant, that the applicant was making suspicious deposits into the accounts subject matter of investigation.

The fund of the unlawful activities were paid into a front organisation account called “Women for Change Initiative” for the benefit of the former first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.

The applicant, through her alleged fraudulent activities in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC  influenced the fraudulent allocation of Dual Purpose Kerosene DPK  to Index Petrolube Africa limited with the aid of the former first lady.

As a result of these fraudulent activities, the applicant was paid “FOUNDER FEES” In the total sum of N3,305,150,000 by Indexo Petrolube Africa limited and its sister company, Autodex Nigeria Limited both owned by Hon.Ezeani ThankGod for the fraudulent facilitation of Dual Purpose Kerosene DPK to his company, Index Petrolube Africa Limited.

Based on the above, the applicant paid a cumulative sum of N1,212,000,000. to the former first lady, Patience Jonathan through her account ‘Women for Change Initiative’ account domiciled in Diamond bank in which the former first lady was sole signatory.

The  sum of  N1,902,673,399.93, remaining balance from the aforementioned proceeds of the unlawful activities, was warehoused in the personal accounts of the applicant domiciled in Unity Bank.

EFCC invited Billy Okoye, the Executive Director, Commercial of the Nigerian Petroleum Marketing Company NPMC, a subsidiary of NNPC who stated that he did not know anything about the founder ‘s fee and that he never heard of it until confronted by the EFCC.

It was further averred that whenever Hon. Ezeani ThankGod made fraudulent deposits into the account of Shagaya through his companies, Index Petrolube Africa Limited and Autodex Nigeria Limited, Shagaya would thereafter transfer particular sum to the account of the former first lady through the ‘Women for Change Initiatives’ in Diamond bank.

The applicant was alleged to have been using three accounts numbers, 0003261118, 0025111493, 0025092589 domiciled in Unity Bank Plc respectively to warehouse and harbour the suspected proceeds of the alleged crime.

In view of the above, the respondent applied to the court by ex -parte application for an order of interim attachment before a Federal High Court in Lagos, and the presiding judge, in his wisdom after hearing the respondent’s application and reading the originating summons granted an interim order on 29 December, 2016 against the applicant’s accounts domiciled in the Unity Bank, pending the determination of the investigation and possible prosecution.

Investigation further revealed that the funds transferred to Dame Patience Jonathan were parts of the funds paid to her for facilitating allocation of DPK to Index Petrolube Africa company.

The applicant was alleged to have refused to honour EFCC’s invitation to enable the anti-graft agency confront her with its findings of investigation.

Consequently, the respondent urged the court to refuse the application and dismiss same as the application was not only frivolous, but an abuse of court process, and time wasting.

After the adoption of the written addresses of the two parties, justice  Oguntoyinbo adjourned till Thursday till for judgement.

Oguntoyinbo, while berating the applicant after citing plethora of authorities said “it could had been neater for the applicant to have filed a motion on notice before Justice Hassan before whom the suit to freeze her account was pending since he was the one abreast  with the fact of the case instead of filing another suit or better still to file appeal against the order of the court, more so she did not controvert nearly all the averment of EFCC, especially as the anti-graft agency stated that she did honour its invitation sent to her to come to their office for interview.”

Did you guys read the title of this post? Should I write it again? Oh God, I can’t breath…lol. So let me say that again…I, Linda Ikeji, is going to be a mum. Somebody please pinch me! Gosh, I can’t get over it.

2018 started with me finding out I was pregnant. When I missed my period and my friend and I did a home pregnancy test and it read positive, my friend began to cry with happiness but I was just there staring at the stick like, you’re not messing with me, are you? This is real and not a joke on me, right? I refused to believe it and asked my friend to drive me to a lab for another test. And there it was confirmed, I was pregnant. Me, Linda, I am going to have my own child. Please don’t wake me up from this lovely dream..lol

So many women have had children, so what’s the big deal, huh? Lol. Well, you see me, I’m somewhat of a different case. There’s something about me that I have never talked about publicly before and that’s the fact that I love children so much (I took that from my dad), and I am particularly obsessed with babies, and I mean that literally. Their pureness, innocence, little beautiful faces, tiny hands and soft cheeks make me just want to be around them.

I grew up in a compound with a lot of neighbours and believe it or not, as a teenager/young woman, I was the unofficial resident babysitter. I swear, ask my siblings. I literally carried all the new born babies born in that compound at a period of time until they grew up to a certain age. Their mums used to come drop the babies at our house whenever they were tired or wanted to go out, this was, of course, to the annoyance of my family…lol.

The first baby I carried was a boy named Makoba (wonder where he is now, this was about 20 years ago, he will be a big boy now). From the first day I carried him, I didn’t want to let him go…so every time I had free time, and his mum hadn’t brought him to me, I would walk two floors up, knock on his family’s door and ask them if they wanted me to take the child off them for a while. I was always happy when they said yes. After him other mums started dropping their kids with me.

Back then my sisters and I used to take turns to cook every day of the week. So whenever it was my turn to cook and I was babysitting and they insisted I go cook, I’d tell my sisters to either hold the baby for me so I could go cook or they go cook. They always chose the latter. Lol.

Then my siblings started having children and I started to feel more joy. These were no longer neighbours’ or friends’ children, these were my nephews and nieces. My family! And carrying them brought me even more joy. Like for example, whenever I see my sister Laura’s son, Ryan, I shriek with happiness. He’s the love of my life…lol. If I was planning to go out and I heard my beautiful nephews and niece were coming over to the house, most times, I change plans and just stay home with them. I’m a homebody, I like to stay home (that’s why I bought a big house…lol).

So now imagine that in a few months, I will look down at a baby, and it won’t be a neighbor’s child, a friend’s child, a sister’s child, but my own child, my own flesh and blood, carried in my womb. My own son. It’s surreal. I can’t get over it.

You guys think DJ Khaled is obsessed with his son, Asahd? Wait until this one gets here. He’s not even here yet and I already ordered a Bentley Mulsanne for us. I swear! Lol. Like, I can’t keep calm. Oh and please, nannies, stay away from me. I’ve got this covered! Thank you. Lol.

Sometimes when I’m lying down and I feel him moving around inside me (he’s so hyper already, constantly moving around…lol), I just get up and cradle my tummy and smile. Lol. I can’t wait for these months to go by so I can meet him. My own son!

Dear son, of every dream I have had, every achievement, every milestone, out of all my accomplishments and titles, all the money and worldly possession I have, nothing compares to you. You are my greatest blessing, my gift from heaven, my greatest dream realized. I love you more than life itself and I can’t wait to meet you and give you so many kisses. And of course, spoil you! You will hear ‘I love you’ loud and clear so many times, you will beg me to stop. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms. .

I know I’m going to be the best mum ever! I was born for this and I am finally ready! And now I want to do more, achieve more, so lil man will be proud of his mama.

Considering how much I love children, sometimes I wonder why I didn’t have them earlier. But like my dad said, miracles like this finally happen when God is ready to share you.

Anyway, as you all know, I’ve always shared every milestone, every good thing that’s happened to me over the years with you guys and I definitely wanted to also share this joy with you. I’ve been wanting to scream about this since I found out many months ago but my family and friends have been telling me to ‘calm down Linda, calm down’…lol. I’m now way into my second trimester, so I guess it’s okay to share my joy.

May God grant you what you desire the most and may all your dreams come true.

Oh, by the way, I’ll be having a baby shower in a few weeks and I will definitely love for some of you amazing, loyal female readers to come celebrate with me. Will communicate when the time comes.

See who's gonna be a mummy. congrats Lin @officiallindaikeji

My greatest dream has been realized. I'm going to be a mum. There's nothing that has happened in my life that compares to this. I'm beyond happy. I love children so much and literally obsessed with babies and to think in a few months, I'll look down at a baby and he will be mine. My own son. No accomplishment, no title, no milestone, no achievement, no money or worldly possession compares to this. This is my greatest blessing. My gift from heaven. Dear God, thank you so much for this gift! Thank you! I wrote a piece on my blog about finding out I was pregnant early this year and all the emotions I've felt since then. You can go read it if you want. Thank you so much for all your well wishes. I appreciate your love and kindness. May God visit everyone for whatever their hearts desires are. May all your prayers be answered. God bless
