The Channels International Kids Cup continued for the third day on Wednesday with an unexpected visit by former Super Eagles Captain, Joseph Yobo.

Yobo’s visit to the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, the venue of the tournament was a boost to the players and their coaches who received him warmly.

Despite crashing out of the competition, some of the young lads whose schools could not qualify for the quarter-finals put their worries behind to welcome Yobo who asked them not to take their education with levity.

A group called the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) led by the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Col Hamid Ali, on Tuesday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.

During the visit, the President addressed issues regarding the misappropriation of funds on projects by past governments.

Specifically, he criticized a former president (whose name he didn’t mention) for spending billions of dollars on power projects in the country with no results.

According to the President, one of the former Heads of State had bragged that he spent 16 billion dollars on power whereas there wasn’t anything to show for it.

He noted that the perpetrators lacked imagination and plans for Nigeria’s development and therefore, urged citizens to remain vigilant and ensure that only “people of conscience are in-charge of governance at all levels”, even as the 2019 general elections draw near.

Some notable Nigerians were honoured on Tuesday during the 2018 National Productivity Day.

The National Productivity Day which is the 17th edition was held at the NAF Conference Centre Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari was in attendance to present the National Productivity Order of Merit Awards to the recipients.

The Head of Service of Federation Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita was among the recipients who were honoured with Order of Merit Awards.

He also called on the legislature to review what he calls archaic provisions in the country’s laws as well as proactive legislation to help fight corruption.
