Leicester and West Ham eyeing eyeing cut-price move for West Brom defender

As per a report from KingFut this afternoon, both Leicester City and West Ham United are keen on the signature

As per a report from KingFut this afternoon, both Leicester City and West Ham United are keen on the signature of West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi.

Dependable presence

Hegazi, a 27-year-old Egyptian international, made the move to the Hawthorns last summer on a loan deal from Al Ahly.

After impressing during his early months at the club, West Brom unsurprisingly made the decision to make Hegazi’s move permanent in January, with the stopper having gone on to play in all 38 of the Baggies’ Premier League fixtures this season.

On the move

However, despite a late-season resurgence under Darren Moore, West Brom were eventually condemned to relegation to the Championship, a shortcoming which has, according to several reports, seen a clause in Hegazi’s contract with the Baggies become active.

The deal that Hegazi penned in January is said to have contained a clause which has now seen the powerful African central defender become available for just £2.5 million.

As such, both Leicester City and West Ham United are now rumoured to be readying offers for Hegazi, with the Egyptian international looking set for an immediate return to the Premier League.

This news will no doubt come as a worry to fans of the Baggies, with the club also likely to lose captain and fellow central defender Jonny Evans for just £3 million as a result of the club’s relegation.

Leicester City have this evening confirmed that the club have found an agreement with Portuguese giants Porto over the transfer

Leicester City have this evening confirmed that the club have found an agreement with Portuguese giants Porto over the transfer of Ricardo Pereira.

Gifted stopper

Pereira, a highly-regarded Portuguese international who has been included in Fernando Santos’ squad for this summer’s World Cup, made the move to Porto in the summer of 2013, but initially struggled for game-time.

As such, the versatile stopper, who can play either at right or left-back and even on the wing when required, was sent out on a two-year loan spell to Ligue 1 outfit Nice from 2015-2017.

And it was with Les Aiglons that the Vitoria Guimaraes youth product began to showcase his true potential, proving a dependable defensive presence and consistent threat in attacking areas (2 goals and 8 assists during his two campaigns in Ligue 1).

Suitors

Pereira’s impressive form at the Allianz Riviera led to inevitable links between he and a number of European heavyweights, with Tottenham and Juventus having been touted as potential destinations for much of last summer’s transfer window.

In the end, though, the 24-year-old returned to Porto, since going on to enjoy an impressive campaign.

Pereira managed 34 appearances between the league and Champions League following his Estádio do Dragão return, racking up 2 goals and 6 assists in the process, and playing a key role in Porto reclaiming the Portuguese Primeira Liga title.

King Power bound

Rumours had long been rife that Pereira would be on the move once again this summer, though, with Premier League outfit Leicester City named as the clear front-runners for his signature in the Portuguese media.

And, as per an announcement from the Foxes this evening, Pereira’s arrival at the King Power stadium is now imminent, after Leicester secured a deal with Porto over his transfer.

The stopper has put pen to paper on a 5-year contract with the 2015/16 Premier League champions, with both parties now simply awaiting international clearance to make the move official:

Super Eagles forward Victor Moses returned to Chelsea’s starting eleven for his 28th appearance this season.

Going into the the last fixture of the season, Chelsea needed to beat Newcastle and hope Liverpool lose at Anfield to Brighton and Hove Albion.

But it was Newcastle who emerged deserved winners thanks to goals from Dwight Gayle (23rd minute) and Ayoze Perez (59th, 63rd minutes).

The result means Chelsea finished fifth on 70 points and pick up a Europa League ticket.

At Anfield, Liverpool confirmed their place in next season’s Champions League with a convincing 4-0 win against Brighton.

Liverpool’s goals were scored by recently crowned Premier League Player of the Season Mohamed Salah, Dejan Lovren, Dominic Solanke (his first Liverpool goal) and Andrew Robertson in the 26th, 40th, 53rd and 85th minutes respectively.

Salah’s goal against Brighton means he has now broken the record for the most goals scored ever in a 38-match season as he netted his 32nd of the season.

The trio of Alan Shearer (1995-1996), Cristiano Ronaldo (2007-2008) and Luis Suarez (2013-2014) were joint-record holders on 31 goals each.

Liverpool finished the season in fourth on 70 points and earned a Champions League berth.

At the Liberty Stadium, Swansea’s very slim hopes of avoiding relegation were eventually quashed following their 2-1 home loss to already relegated Stoke.

Swansea needed a wide goal margin against Stoke and needed Manchester City to also inflict a heavy defeat on Southampton at St. Mary’s which eventually ended 1-0 in favour of the league champions.

Swansea now join Stoke and West Bromwich Albion as the three relegated teams from the Premier League.

It was a thriller at Wembley Stadium as Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho scored but it was not enough as Tottenham Hotspur edged Leicester City 5-4.

Iheanacho scored a superb long range strike on 48 minutes to put Leicester 3-1 ahead.

Jamie Vardy (4th, 73rd minutes) and Riyad Mahrez (16th minute) were the other scorers for Leicester.

A brace from Harry Kane (seventh, 76th minutes), Erik Lamela (49th, 61st minutes) and an own goal from Christian Fuchs (53rd minute), secured the nine-goal thriller win for Spurs.

Kane’s brace means he finish the Premier League season on 30 goals, two behind Salah.

Spurs ended the season in The third position on 77 points and automatic qualification to the Champions League next season.

Champions Manchester City left it very late as they pipped Southampton 1-0 at St. Mary’s.

Gabriel Jesus’ 90th minute goal ensures City becomes the first side to reach 100 points in the Premier League and also the first side to win 32 games in a single English top-flight campaign.

Arsenal eventually picked their first away points in 2018 following a hard-fought 1-0 win aat Huddersfield Town in Arsene Wenger’s final game in charge.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the only goal for Arsenal in the 38th minute off an assist from Aaron Ramsey.

Alex Iwobi made his 26th appearance for Arsenal in the game against Huddersfield.

Arsenal ended the season in sixth on 63 points and join Chelsea as qualifiers for next season’s Europa League.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United beat Watford 1-0 in what was Michael Carrick’s final game before retiring from professional football.

Marcus Rashford’s 34th minute goal made sure United sealed a last day win.

In other results on the final day of the season, West Ham beat visiting Everton 3-1, Crystal Palace signed out with a 2-0 win against already relegated West Bromwich Albion while Bournemouth beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor.

Puel Confident Of Leicester Stay Despite Rumours

Leicester City’s French Manager Claude Puel

Claude Puel believes he will still be in his post as manager of 2016 Premier League champions Leicester City next season despite rumours of him again facing the sack.

The 56-year-old Frenchman — who was fired by Southampton at the end of the 2016/17 campaign despite reaching the League Cup final and finishing eighth in the table — says he did not come in to replace Craig Shakespeare last October just to save the club’s place among the elite and then leave.

Puel — who tasted success early in his coaching career when he led Monaco to the 2000 French Ligue 1 title — has seen his position come under fierce scrutiny from fans with just five wins in their last 20.

However, he will still be only the second coach of The Foxes this century to guide them to a top 10 Premier League finish — Italian Claudio Ranieri’s title win being the other one.

“We will see if it is possible or not but I have a good feeling because it is the most important thing for the club,” said the 56-year-old, whose side finish their campaign against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

“I didn’t come here just for some games and to try to save the club. I want the project, I want to work to develop the play and the squad.

“For example, we have finished ninth or maybe eighth but we have finished in the top 10 only two times for 18 years.”

Puel, who received the backing of Thai owners chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and his son Top after a meeting earlier this week, said it was crucial to give a decent run to the manager to allow the club to progress on the pitch.

“This is a fact. This club needs consistency and to develop something strong, with solidity and strength,” he said.

“This needs time and we need also to work hard in the summer in the transfer window.

“We need to improve this team and develop some good players also. We will see the results next season.

“It is important to understand this and to have a good consistency in our work during the difficulties.

“A manager needs to keep the way in all conditions.”

Iheanacho Vows To Work Harder After Goal Vs Arsenal

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho is keen to revive his career at Leicester City after scoring in the Foxes’ 3-1

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho is keen to revive his career at Leicester City after scoring in the Foxes’ 3-1 Premier League win over Arsenal on Wednesday, Complete Sports reports

The Nigeria international, who is hoping to make coach Gernot Rohr’s squad to the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup, scored the first goal for the former Premier League champions on Wednesday in the 14th minute before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalized in the 53rdminute.

Both Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez added one each in the 76th and 90th minutes respectively to beat the Gunners 3-1.

“That’s what every player wants, to play. When you work hard, you get your chance, so I’ll keep working hard and see what’s next,” Iheanacho told Sky Sports.

“It’s always good to be involved in a good sport, with a great team. We started well and we got the first goal. We had the confidence and the momentum and we finished well.

“It was important to get the first goal to get us going and get our confidence back for the last couple of games. I think we’ve got our confidence back now, we’re strong and we’ll keep going. It was a great goal, good composure, a good assist from Fouss [Fousseni Diabata] and a good finish.”

Leicester City will face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in their last game of the season and the Nigerian will be looking forward to making an impressive appearnace in the game.

The Foxes are ninth in the EPL table with 47 points from 37 games while Tottenham Hotspur are third with 74 points with same number of games.

Iheanacho Scores, Iwobi Starts As Leicester Outclass Arsenal; Moses Benched In Chelsea Draw

By James Agberebi: Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was on target for Leicester City who defeated 10-man Arsenal 3-1 in

By James Agberebi:

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was on target for Leicester City who defeated 10-man Arsenal 3-1 in Wednesday’s Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium.

Iheanacho’s Super Eagles teammate Alex Iwobi started for Arsenal before making way for Edward Nketiah on 84 minutes.

The goal was Iheanacho’s second in the league this season after making his 20th appearance.

The defeat means Arsenal have failed to secure a single away point in 2018.

Also, Arsenal have now lost seven consecutive top-flight away matches for the first time since January 1966.

Iheanacho broke the deadlock in the 14th minute as he hit a low shot off a knockdown from Fousseni Diabate past Petr Cech.

In the 15th minute, Arsenal were reduced to 10 men following a straight red card to Konstantinos Mavropanos who pulled down Iheanacho who was clean through on goal.

Arsenal were back on level terms in the 53rd minute thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who slammed the ball into the roof of the net after his initial shot off a pass from Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ cross was stopped by Eldin Jakupovic.

In the 76th minute, Leicester were back in front as Jamie Vardy scored from the penalty spot after Henrikh Mkhitaryan fouled Demarai Gray.

And in the 90th minute, Riyad Mahrez made sure of the points for Leicester as he raced on to a pass, beat his marker before firing past Cech to make it 3-1.

Arsenal stay rooted in the sixth position on 60 points on the log while Leicester are now ninth on 47 points.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s hope of a top four finish in the Premier League suffered a setback as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Huddersfield Town.

Super Eagles forward Victor Moses was an unused substitute for Chelsea.

Huddersfield took a surprise 1-0 lead in the 50th minute as Laurent Depoitre scored from the rebound as his first effort was saved by Willy Caballero.

Chelsea equalised in the 62nd minute through Marcos Alonso who got the last touch from Mathias Zanka attempted clearance.

The draw saw Huddersfield confirm their safety in the Premier League for next season.

Chelsea remain fifth on 70 points after 37 league games in the league table, two points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool with only one round of games left.

Arsenal to beat Leicester 3-0 is 18/1 with Bet365

Despite not earning a single point away from home in the whole of 20138 so far, we expect Arsenal to beat the 2016 Premier League Champions comfortably at their own home.

Leicester have nothing to play for and are winless in their last 5 matches. Arsenal themselves have nothing to play for as they will finish 6th regardless of their own results and the results of the teams around them.

Every Arsenal player will be keen to get their name on the scoresheet in Arsene Wenger’s second last match in charge of the club.

Leicester City vs Arsenal: Who will win?

The bookies have Arsenal as overwhelming favourites at 17/20.

Leicester can be backed for the win at 31/10.

Leicester City vs Arsenal match preview

Things aren’t going well for Leicester at the moment. The Foxes faithful knew that they would never quite reach the heights of the 2015/16 season ever again but this season has been rather disappointing.

Craig Shakespeare was sacked after some rather uninspiring performances but Claude Puel doesn’t seem to have improved things.

The Leicester players haven’t given it their all in any of their recent fixtures and they have conceded far too many goals.

Arsenal’s away record is appalling but it does look like the mood has changed after Sunday’s emotional Emirates farewell to Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal played Leicester on the opening day of the season and it will surely go down as one of the greatest games in Premier League history.

The Gunners won 4-3 on the night, coming from behind on two occasions.

Leicester haven’t scored in almost 5 hours of playing time and the fans would love to see the back of the Arsenal net bulge on Wednesday evening.

The transfer that didn’t go through

Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez has confirmed that Manchester City made a bid for him in January and talked about his future at the King Power.

The Algerian forward was the subject of intense speculation over his future in January as Man City looked to get a deal for him over the line.

The deal eventually reached a figure around the £60million mark but Leicester would not budge, even after the player submitted a transfer request.

The forward has now confirmed the transfer request that he submitted, as well as confirming that he had an offer from Pep Guardiola’s City.

The future

Now, the player has refused to speculate on whether he is staying or going at the end of the season.

When asked whether his transfer request still stood, he told Sky Sports: ‘It has gone. It was in January, it’s another transfer window. I am still here – I don’t want to put a lot of things in my head.’

‘At that time I handed a transfer (request in) because I had offers from Manchester City so obviously I wanted to go. But now I am still at Leicester.

‘With me, especially, you never know what is happening. Every time I have to go but I am still here.

‘I don’t really want to talk about (whether) I am going or staying. I just want to finish the last three games. We will see what will happen for me.

I am still in contract with Leicester so at the moment I am here and we will see.’
