Meghan Markle to get royal James Bond driving instruction

Subscribe Meghan Markle sped into the lifestyle of British royalty Saturday when Prince Harry whisked her to the wedding reception

Meghan Markle sped into the lifestyle of British royalty Saturday when Prince Harry whisked her to the wedding reception
in a gorgeous electric Jaguar E-Type Zero. Next up: a little James Bond-type evasive driving instruction.

CBS News reports the newly crowned Duchess of Sussex is due to receive special training in how to evade attack or kidnapping attempts. She'll learn escape and evasion techniques including J-turns and Y-turns to handle overzealous fans, creepers, criminals or terrorists. And while we figure the 36-year-old Los Angeles native and Northwestern University graduate can handle those routine maneuvers, Special Forces are even brought in to drill members of the royal family on how to handle worst-case scenarios. Princess Diana and Prince Charles even underwent anti-hostage training at a secretive facility called “The Killing House.” So we're guessing the duchess will be in for a lot more training than the royal security team is letting on.

Markle may well never need to execute any evasive maneuvers herself, since she'll be assigned a personal driver as part of her royal protection detail. But she's also an American who's presumably accustomed to a certain amount of autonomy.

”Certainly within the younger members of the royal family, they are very much used to being independent — independent within a security bubble,” Simon
Morgan, a former close-protection officer to Queen Elizabeth II, tells
CBS News. “And driving does afford them a degree of independence.”

There is precedent for such training. Prince Charles and Camilla in 2010 were attacked in
London after their claret-colored 1977
Rolls-Royce Phantom VI drove into a riot, with protesters hurling bottles and rubbish, badly damaging the car. And in 1974, Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth's only daughter,
survived a kidnapping attempt after an armed, unemployed laborer shot the security-detail officer assigned to her.

BN Style: The Scoop on Meghan Markle’s Radiant Look for her Big Day

Amid rife speculation on what her hair and makeup would look like, fans were pleasantly surprised to see that Meghan

Amid rife speculation on what her hair and makeup would look like, fans were pleasantly surprised to see that Meghan Markle opted to go for a very natural beauty look. With super clean skin (you could even see her freckles!) a lightly smokey eye and a sheer lip – her natural beauty was spotlit.

Her surprisingly low-maintenance look wasn’t very far from her everyday look – she opted for a messy bun with a centre part, a look she’s been seen in at other functions with Prince Harry. Helped by her longtime collaborator and friend Daniel Martin, who is also a consultant for Honest Beauty and brand ambassador for Dior Beauty, they went for a radiant, naturally flawless look, focusing on highlighting her best features, with thick lashes to accentuate her piercing eyes, strong brows and a rosy complexion. Serge Normant (famously celebrity hairstylist to megastars like Julia Roberts) was responsible for her softly romantic yet modern hair.

This beauty look paired perfectly with her modern and simple Givenchy dress by Clare Waight Keller. She looked effortless and elegant and if this isn’t looking like the very best version of yourself, we don’t know what is!

Over six million people tweeted on Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle, more than three times the number during his older brother’s wedding, social media monitoring firm Visibrain said Sunday.

Between 2200 GMT Friday and 2300 GMT Saturday, 6,604,498 tweets were posted worldwide on the royal nuptials, of which 5.2 million bore the hashtag #RoyalWedding, the French firm said.

That compared with 1,821,669 tweets across a similar timeframe for Prince William when he married Kate Middleton back on April 29, 2011 when Twitter, founded in 2006, was in its relative infancy.

The most picked up post was by Lucy Sempey and was retweeted nearly 105,000 times. It was a photograph of Markle outside Buckingham Palace as a teen with the message: “One day you’re 15 and posing outside Buckingham palace and 22 years later you’re marrying the Prince. Unreal.”

Meet Bishop Michael Curry, The African-American Preacher From Chicago Who Delivered That Powerful #RoyalWedding Sermon

Bishop Michael Curry ‘There is power in love’! That is the core message from the sermon delivered by African-American Anglican

Bishop Michael Curry

‘There is power in love’! That is the core message from the sermon delivered by African-American Anglican bishop Michael Curry from Illinois, Chicago and president of the US Episcopal Church.

Running at nearly fifteen minutes, the Bishop’s sermon which emphasized the power of love, wasn’t the traditional kind of sermon you’d hear or the romantic love you might express at a wedding. No, it was none of that. Rather, Curry was drawing on the rhetoric of liberation theology — a 20th century theological tradition inspired by Marxist thought — to characterize love as a necessary, chaotic, and political force.

The newlyweds had personally asked Bishop Curry to give an address in front of their 600 guests at the St. George’s Chapel. Curry was articulate, charismatic, fiery, enthusiastic, passionate about the message that he came to deliver. He spoke in the style of black American preachers, quoting respected speakers like Martin Luther King Jr.

“’We must discover the power of love, the power, the redemptive power of love,’” he said as he quoted Dr King. “‘And when we do that, we will make of this whole world a new world. But love, love is the only way.’”

Who is Michael Curry?

For those who may be wondering who this exceptional preacher is, here are 5 quick things you need to know about him.

  • He was ordained as a priest in 1978, is the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church and has spoken on issues including social justice, immigration policy and marriage equality.
  • Bishop Curry defended the Episcopal Church’s move to allow same-sex couples to marry in a church in 2015, which caused some churches to cut ties.
  • He most recently campaigned for the creation of family day care providers, educational centres and investment in inner-city neighbourhoods in all three of his parish ministries – North Carolina, Ohio, and Maryland.
  • The US Episcopal Church is one of only two Anglican churches worldwide that allow gay marriage in church – the other being the Scottish Episcopal Church.
  • In North Carolina, he helped to refocus the church’s development goals to fund malaria nets to save more than 100,000 lives.

Prince Harry drove Meghan Markle to their Royal Wedding reception in this electric Jaguar

Well over a billion people all over the world tuned in to watch the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and

Well over a billion people all over the world tuned in to watch the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this morning, but now that it's all said and done, it's time to direct our attention to the car that the newly crowned Duke and Duchess of Sussex drove to their reception. The
Jaguar E-Type Zero
first debuted in September of 2017, but it's getting a whole heck of a lot more press today than it did then. Welcome to the Royal Family, Jag.

Jaguar left as much of the original 1968 Series 1.5 E-Type in tact as possible while replacing the original inline-six engine with an electric motor and battery pack. Enough power is sent to the rear wheels to push this feline from 0-62 in just 5.5 seconds. That means it's quicker now than it was when new and chugging on gasoline.

The E-Type Zero's range of 170 miles is way more than enough to whisk the happy couple away from Windsor Castle to Frogmore House on the Windsor Estate, where Harry's father, the Prince of Wales, is hosting their wedding reception. But if it were to run out of juice, its 40kWh battery can be recharged in under 7 hours.

Want one of your own? The Daily Mail says it'll cost £350,000 (that's over $470,000 here in the States). Just don't expect a customized license plate to match the date of your wedding.

Royal Wedding: Harry, Meghan Markle Marry Amidst Splendour

Britain’s Prince Harry and American actress, Meghan Markle, tied the knot yesterday in a star-studded Windsor Castle ceremony, watched the

Britain’s Prince Harry and American actress, Meghan Markle, tied the knot yesterday in a star-studded Windsor Castle ceremony, watched the world over, that married British tradition and US razzmatazz.

The new Duke and Duchess of Sussex, exchanged vows at the altar in St George’s Chapel in an emotional service, sealed with a kiss, that brought the biracial US TV star into the heart of the British monarchy. As more than 100,000 people crowded the sun-baked Windsor streets, Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family, were joined in the chapel by stars including Oprah Winfrey, Elton John, George Clooney and David Beckham.

Meghan Markle and Harry, held hands throughout and exchanged vows in a traditional Church of England wedding, featuring some unusual twists.

Firebrand US pastor, Michael Curry delivered a full-throttle address invoking slaves and the power of love, and a gospel choir sang “Stand By Me.” With the words “I will”, 33-year-old Harry, and US former actress, Meghan, 36, declared they would love, comfort, honour and protect each other. Meghan Markle‘s mother, Doria Ragland, looked visibly moved. Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, the Church of England’s spiritual leader, declared them husband and wife.

With her father recovering from a heart operation in Mexico, Markle walked down the aisle on her own, before being accompanied to the altar by Harry’s father, Prince Charles. Thomas Markle followed his daughter’s wedding on TV and voiced regret that he was unable to attend, US celebrity news website TMZ reported. “My baby looks beautiful and she looks very happy. I wish I were there,” he was quoted as saying. Clare Waight Keller at the French fashion house, Givenchy, designed Meghan Markle’s flowing white silk dress. It contained floral designs from her native California and all 53 Commonwealth countries. Her bouquet included flowers hand-picked by Harry from the gardens of their Kensington Palace home.

Markle wore queen Mary’s 1932 diamond bandeau tiara while Harry wore the blue doeskin frockcoat uniform of a major in the Blues and Royals, the regiment he served with in Afghanistan during his 10 years in the British army. His brother and best man, Prince William wore a matching uniform, emphasising the brothers’ close bond, forged in the loss of their mother, Diana. “You look amazing,” Harry told his bride as she arrived. He smiled at her as they heard how marriage is “the foundation of family life in which children are born.” Meghan Markle and Harry grinned during Curry’s booming address about the power of love. “I’m talking about some power. Real power. Power to change the world,” the African-American preacher intoned. Stars among the 600 guests included Serena Williams, Idris Elba, James Blunt, Tom Hardy and James Corden. Harry’s ex-girlfriends, Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas also attended.

Meghan Markle‘s ring was made from Welsh gold, as is traditional for royal weddings, while Harry’s was made of platinum. Before the wedding, Queen Elizabeth conferred the title; Duke of Sussex on her grandson, Harry, meaning Markle will be known as the Duchess of Sussex.

The couple kissed on the church’s West Steps after the wedding, before going on a carriage procession ride through Windsor where tens of thousands of flag-waving well-wishers cheered them on. Revellers also packed into bars to watch the wedding as far afield as Sydney, Hong Kong and Markle’s native Los Angeles. Hundreds of street parties were held around Britain and there were public screenings in pubs, up and down the country. The wedding was a welcome respite for a country still burdened by austerity and divided over Brexit. Windsor was decked out with flags and bunting, and there was a carnival atmosphere on the Long Walk, the grand tree-lined avenue on the procession route. Thousands had bagged their spots by dawn, bearing rugs and picnics, Union Jack flags and patriotic paraphernalia, and the bubbly was flowing freely. “It made me really emotional when I saw them coming past,” said Helen Oliver, 50. Lesley Ward, 62, from Gosport on the southern English coast, said: “We could just see they were such a happy couple and it’s such a genuine marriage.” Kristin Glithero, 45, from nearby Wokingham, was not the only one wide-eyed at Curry’s address. “His message was lovely and the way he delivered it was very powerful,” she said. “But maybe too long for the British public.

After the procession, Queen Elizabeth gave a lunch reception inside Windsor Castle for the 600 guests. They were treated to canapes including Scottish langoustines, English asparagus and Windsor lamb. The royal couple was to cut the lemon and elderflower cake, while Charles, Harry and Meghan were to make speeches introduced by William. The couple met on a blind date in July 2016 and had a whirlwind romance, criss-crossing the Atlantic as she continued filming in Toronto. Harry was scarred by his mother, Diana’s death in a Paris car crash in 1997 when he was just 12, and he had to mourn in the full glare of the world’s media. His wedding featured a hymn used at Diana’s funeral, at which he and William had walked behind her casket. Sixth in line to the throne, Harry is one of the most popular royals, while Markle, a divorcee, is seen as a breath of fresh air for the monarchy.
