Omokri To Buhari: “My University In England Had A Module On Abacha’s Thievery”

What type of anti-corruption crusader chooses Abacha, a proven thief, who was also a blood thirsty buffoon, as his mentor?”

What type of anti-corruption crusader chooses Abacha, a proven thief, who was also a blood thirsty buffoon, as his mentor?” Omokri wondered.

“When I schooled in England, my university had a module on Abacha’s thievery. This is the man Buhari aspires to be? The man who exiled Tinubu and NADECO!”

Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has taken to Twitter to weigh in on President Muhammadu Buhari’s insinuation that Olusegun Obasanjo, former President, wasted $16 billion on power with nothing to show for it.

He also censure Buhari for praising Abacha as a man who helped improve infrastructure, regardless of what anyone thinks about him.

While receiving the Buhari Support Organization (BSO) led by the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Ahmeed Ali, on Tuesday, Buhari had declared that former President Olusegun Obasanjo has questions to answer over the spending of $16 billion on power project during his administration.

Obasanjo has since offered a punchy reaction, referring Buhari to his book ‘My Watch’ and previous probes by the ICPC and EFCC.

Describing Buhari as an “ungrateful ignoramus”, Omokri tweeted on Wednesday: “Buhari is an ungrateful ignoramus for saying he is paying Obasanjo’s debt. Obasanjo did not spend $16 billion on power.

“Obasanjo actually paid ALL our foreign debt and left a total reserve of $67 billion. It’s Buhari who has borrowed more in 3 years than PDP borrowed in 16 years.”

Speaking on Abacha on Tuesday, Buhari had also said: “No matter what opinion you have about Abacha, I agreed to work with him and the PTF road we did from here to Port Harcourt, to Onitsha, to Benin and so on… On top of other things in the institution, education, medical care and so on.”

Picking on that, Omokri mocked Buhari‘s anti-corruption war, asking: “What type of anti-corruption crusader chooses Abacha, a proven thief, who was also a blood thirsty buffoon, as his mentor?

“When I schooled in England, my university had a module on Abacha’s thievery. This is the man Buhari aspires to be? The man who exiled Tinubu and NADECO!”

Buhari Finally Hits Back At Obasanjo Over $16bn Power Project

President Muhammadu Buhari has thrown caution to the win and seems ready to damn the consequences. On Tuesday, he queried

President Muhammadu Buhari has thrown caution to the win and seems ready to damn the consequences.

On Tuesday, he queried the decision to spend $16 billion on power infrastructure during the administration of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Buhari was speaking at the Presidential Villa in Abuja while receiving the Buhari Support Organization led by the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Ahmed Ali.

Buhari did not mention Obasanjo’s name, but asked where was the power after a former president claimed to have spent $16bn on the project.

He remarked, “…and one of the former Heads of State was bragging that he spent more than 16 billion American dollars, not naira, on power. Where is the power? And now we have to pay the debt.”

Buhari told his guest that his government had invested heavily in infrastructure.

He also appealed to Nigerians to live in one accord, narrating his experiences before he won the 2015 election.

“Now, we have to pay debts. This year and last year’s budget had the highest in capital projects: more than 1.3 trillion naira. Let anybody come and confront me publicly in the national assembly,” he said.

The President also attacked members of the National Assembly, saying some of them have been in the National Assembly for 10 years without any record of notable achievements.

“What have they been doing? Some of them have been there for 10 years, what have they been doing?

“I said it about eight years ago that we have no other country than Nigeria.

“We should remain here and salvage it together no matter what you have outside.

“Now we get some of the people with houses here and may be in Abuja or somewhere in America and Europe, they swear, some of them to God, that it doesn’t belong to them.

“But their accounts, through the banks, through their companies, it is their own. But they say it’s not their own. This is a terrible time and the people are saying what are we doing? Why can’t you lock them up? And again, I went on by telling them that when I was in uniform, younger and rather ruthless, I got from the president downward locked up.

“I said you’re guilty, except you prove yourselves innocent. I myself was locked up and those who misappropriated public funds were given back what they had taken away. Who did anything about it?

“Then I decided to come again. I tried one, two, three four times. God agreed. And the third time I came and met a statesman outside the supreme court. My chief lawyer was Mike Ahamba, Roman Catholic and Igbo. He had witnessed in the box and asked the panel of judges that they should check on certain constituencies in certain states to bring us our register so that we can prove that the people that voted there were the people INEC submitted.

“They said ‘ah! We shall do it. They said no, you must write it. They wrote it. Whether to send to NEC or INEC refused them but when they came to give judgment, this issue was not raised. Another Igbo man, a Roman Catholic, he said that this is what happened. He was among the panel of the judges, he wrote a minority report in my favour. So, why this question of religion and ethnicity and so on. People are worshipping the dollars, the Sterlings not to even talk of the naira.

“He wrote a minority reports saying this is what we have decided. But the president of that court was my classmate for six years in secondary school; he is from my own state. So, please, we have nothing to regret. Absolutely nothing. Since we all believe that God works in our hearts not in our talking. God help us, God help our children and grandchildren. We will try as much as we can to work and bring this country back to its senses. God has given Nigeria everything; we are rich in human and material resources that let us keep praying to God that He should put people of conscience in charge at all levels.”

REVEALED: Security Forces Were Warned Of Boko Haram Presence Before Dapchi Abduction

This is a grave allegation against Nigerian security forces – the Army and the Police.

London-based non-government organisation focused on human rights, Amnesty International is alleging that Nigerian security forces were warned about the presence of Boko Haram fighters near the town of Dapchi, but failed to respond, allowing insurgents to kidnap 110 schoolgirls almost without a confrontation.

“The Nigerian authorities have failed in their duty to protect civilians, just as they did in Chibok four years ago,” said Osai Ojigho, Amnesty’s Nigeria director, in Tuesday’s report.

“Despite being repeatedly told that Boko Haram fighters were heading to Dapchi, it appears that the police and military did nothing to avert the abduction,” she said.

A military spokesman denied that they had been warned of Boko Haram presence in the region, saying: “There was nothing like that.”

He said if Amnesty had important information, the watchdog should notify a presidential panel set up in the wake of Dapchi to investigate the incident.

Amnesty alleged that the Nigerian army and police received at least five phone calls warning that Boko Haram was on the way to Dapchi as early as four hours before the attack but did not take “effective measures” to halt the militants or rescue the girls once they had been taken.

“The military withdrew troops from the area in January, meaning the closest personnel were based one hour’s drive from Dapchi,” the report said.

FG Files Fresh Charges Against Co-Defendants Of Nnamdi Kanu

The federal government has filed fresh charges against four members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) being tried alongside Nnamdi

The federal government has filed fresh charges against four members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) being tried alongside Nnamdi Kanu, the group’s leader.

The three-count charge which bothers on treasonable felony was filed at the federal high court in Abuja, where they are being tried, on Tuesday.

The IPOB members — Benjamin Madubugwu, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, national coordinator of IPOB; Bright Chimeze, and David Nwawuisi — were being tried alongside Kanu also for alleged treason.

But the absence of court in previous court sittings has stalled the trial.

At the resumed sitting on Tuesday, Shuaibu Labaran, the prosecution counsel, called the attention of the court to the continued absence of Kanu in the trial.

He, therefore, requested the court to hear the separate charges against the four other accused — which Binta Nyako, the presiding judge, granted.

All the four accused pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence after the charge was read.

The court adjourned the case till Thursday, March 22, for further hearing, after Nyako warned that she will not allow further waste of time regarding the case.

TheCable had reported that Kanu and his wife were spotted in Ghana by security forces.

He has not been seen anywhere in Nigeria since soldiers raided his residence in Abia during the Operation Python Dance military excercise.

Former French President Sarkozy Arrested For Collecting Gaddafi Money

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is in hot soup for allegedly collecting money from late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi to fund his 2017 election as French President.

Sarkozy was being held in police custody on Tuesday for questioning by magistrates looking into allegations of the Libyan funding, an official in the French judiciary said.

A lawyer for Sarkozy could not be reached immediately for comment.

France opened a judicial inquiry in 2013 into allegations that Sarkozy’s successful 2007 election bid benefited from illicit funds from Gaddafi.

A former minister and close ally of Sarkozy, Brice Hortefeux, was also being questioned by police on Tuesday morning in relation to the Libya investigation, another source close to the probe said.

Sarkozy, who served as president from 2007 to 2012, has always denied receiving any illicit campaign funding and has dismissed the Libyan allegations as “grotesque”.

In January, a French businessman suspected by investigators of funneling money from Gaddafi to finance Sarkozy’s campaign was arrested in Britain and granted bail after he appeared in a London court.

Sarkozy has already been ordered to stand trial in a separate matter concerning financing of his failed re-election campaign in 2012,  when he was defeated by Francois Hollande.
