Chelsea make Bayern Munich forward their main summer target

Reports are emerging from The Telegraph that Chelsea are aiming to bring experienced Bayern Munich goalscorer Robert Lewandowski to Stamford

Reports are emerging from The Telegraph that Chelsea are aiming to bring experienced Bayern Munich goalscorer Robert Lewandowski to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Bad news for Morata

Of course, if Lewandowski does become a Chelsea player this summer, that would surely signal the end of Alvaro Morata’s short spell as a Chelsea player.

The Spaniard arrived at Stamford Bridge in the 2017 summer transfer window for a fee of around £60 million.

Despite the hefty price tag though, Morata has failed to impress for The Blues. The forward started the season well scoring six goals in his first six league games.

However, since the 9th of December 2017, Morata has scored a dismal two Premier League goals. His poor displays brought him under huge criticism from his manager and fans alike.

This would lead to Morata becoming somewhat of a fringe player for Chelsea as Antonio Conte would at times, chose to play Eden Hazard up front, rather than Morata.

Alvaro Morata’s poor season would also see him miss out on Spain’s World Cup squad when it was announced yesterday. Now, with Lewandowski likely set for Stamford Bridge, Morata’s season looks to go from bad to worse as he is seemingly being forced out of Chelsea, just a year after his big money move.

A real asset for Chelsea

However, given that Chelsea failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, it is clear they are in need of some fresh legs as Stamford Bridge. Especially in the striking department, where, as mentioned above, Morata scored just two league goals from the 9th of December till the end of the season.

Lewandowski, on the other hand, is a prolific, consistent, goal scorer. During his time at Dortmund, Lewandowski played 187 games for them. Racking up 103 goals and 43 assists in that time.

Then, when Lewandowski moved to his current club Bayern Munich he has, so far, played 195 competitive games for the German giants. In which the Bayern forward has managed to score a very impressive 151 goals, as well as earning 35 assists.

This shows Lewandowski could be a real asset to Chelsea. And while this move may spell the end of Alvaro Morata’s time at Chelsea, Lewandowski would do a much better job of helping them fight for a Champions League spot next season.

Chelsea make ‘concrete’ offer for Robert Lewandowski, Man City also interested

Lewandowski to Chelsea?

Chelsea have made a surprising offer for Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski ahead of the upcoming 2018/19 campaign.

Lewandowski is one of the best strikers in the world and finished the current season as the Bundesliga’s top scorer with 29 goals.

The Polish forward netted 41 goals in all competitions for Bayern this season which remarkably is his worst goal scoring season since 2014/15.

Bayern surely won’t want to let go of their prize asset especially considering that they have no viable back up option.

Sport.PL (Polish) report that Chelsea have made a concrete offer for Lewandowski while Manchester City and PSG are interested in the player.

Would Lewandowski leave Bayern?

Lewandowski will turn 30 just a few days into the upcoming season and this could be his last chance to play in the Premier League.

Manchester City don’t particularly need a new striker considering they have the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in their ranks whereas Chelsea have plenty of attacking problems.

Alvaro Morata failed to live up to the hype at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea fans are desperate to sign a new marquee forward.

Olivier Giroud has fitted in very well at Chelsea but at 31 years old, he doesn’t have a very long future at the club.

Lewandowski would surely leap at the chance to play in the Premier League but may be put off by the fact that The Blues are in the Europa League.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker has never won the Champions League and he will be desperate to add that title to his CV.

There is plenty of uncertainty at Stamford Bridge at the moment and Lewandowski is unlikely to leave a stable club with a great new manager, to play for Chelsea.

Real Madrid alert: Robert Lewandowski behaves badly vs Cologne

FC Cologne 1 – Bayern Munich 3

On the face of it there was nothing too interesting as Bayern Munich won again on Saturday in Germany.

The Bundesliga champions beat Cologne 3-1 away from home in the penultimate round of the season.

A Niklas Sule own goal gave Cologne the lead on the half hour. But Bayern hit back in the second half with goals from James Rodriguez, Robert Lewandowski and Corentin Tolisso.

Lewandowski’s goal took the Pole up to 40 goals for Bayern in all competitions this season.

But that wasn’t the big Lewandowski story after the game.

Robert Lewandowski snubs Jupp Heynckes

With 15 minutes left in the game, Robert Lewandowski was subbed out the match by Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes.

That lead to a noticeable snub from the Polish striker to his manager when he walked off the pitch.

Lewandowski made it obvious that he was unhappy as his number came up.

The striker didn’t shake his manager’s hand when he came off, instead he put his head down and avoided eye contact.

After the game Heynckes was asked about the Lewandowski situation. The Bayern boss replied:

I know myself that we goalscorers are selfish and always thinking about our goalscoring ratio. We have spoken and he has understood.

When I took him off, though, I didn’t find it funny at all, because I’m the boss and no one else.

Real Madrid & Lewandowski

The new footage of Lewandowski acting out will no doubt set off alarm bells linking him to Real Madrid.

Stories have been floating about for a whole that Lewandowski is keen on joining Real Madrid.

Indeed, he’s recently joined forced with Pini Zahavi; a move most have interpreted as being Lewandowski’s signal that he wants a new challenge.

Bayern Munich want to replace Robert Lewandowski with Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane this summer, according to Spanish outlet Marca.

The Polish forward has informed the Geman giants that he wants to join Real Madrid in the summer, meaning that Munich are now on the lookout for a new centre-forward.

Kane and Red Bull Leipzig striker Timo Werner are the two players that head the list of players targeted by the Bundesliga leaders.

Kane is second on the list of players set to be targeted by Bayern, with Werner the man they wish to see as the man to fill the void set to be created by the departure of Lewandowski.

Although, with the Bavarians also on the lookout for a new manager they are desperate to bring in Mauricio Pochettino and believe providing him with the signing of Kane would boost their chances.

Tottenham will not sell Kane this summer, or in the near future, for any transfer fee, whilst the player himself wants to remain in North London, meaning a move for Werner is the most likely outcome.

Lewandowski believes his time at the Allianz Arena is complete and his desire is to now play at the Santiago Bernabeu for Los Blancos.

The 30-year-old frontman has informed Bayern’s general director, Karl Heinz Rummenigge that he will force through a move to Madrid in the summer.

However, it is understood that the Bundesliga club are unwilling to let the Pole leave and will offer him a new contract until 2021.

The Super Eagles will in every possible means try to stop Poland’s top striker Robert Lewandowski from adding to his fantastic international goals tally when they clash in Wroclaw from 8.45pm on Friday night.

The Poland captain has scored 51 goals in 91 international games and the Uper Eagles chief coach  Gernot Rohr is working on a plan to stop the Bayern Munich striker.

“Coach Rohr is working on how his defenders will fare against big name and free-scoring strikers and has directed his boys to ensure that the likes of Lewandowski are kept in check,” Co-ordinator of the Super Eagles Patrick Pascal told an Abuja radio station.

“The training and team talks have been on how to be solid and united in defending. Play it tight and be strong in possession and not be wasteful in front of goal. I must tell you that the boys are responding well and I am sure they will do well against Poland.”

The former Super Eagles player expressed satisfaction with the response of the players to invitation and training, adding that the boys are really fired up for the two friendly games against Poland and Serbia.

Also, Leon Balogun who plies his trade in the Bundesliga with Mainz said he knows Lewandowski very well and that he would be up to the challenge of stopping the Pole from doing any damage.

Lewandowski, 29, has been one of Europe’s best strikers for several years and he has scored 32 goals in 37 games in all competitions this season

Adam Nawalka’s men will come up against an African team Senegal in one of their group games at the mundial.

To get a close knowledge of the playing style of Senegal, quarter-finalists at the 2002 World Cup, the Poles will face the Super Eagles at the Municipal Stadium, Wroclaw on Friday.

Next week’s friendly fixture against South Korea is to test Poland’s might against an Asian team  as they will face Japan in Russia 2018.

Lewandowski, who plays for European giants Bayern Munich, offered his explanation on why they are engaging Nigeria and South Korea in friendlies ahead of the World Cup.

“The selection of opponents was influenced by the teams we have in our group,” the former Borussia Dortmund star told the Poland Football Federation official website on Tuesday.

“Each  game, however, will be different because the teams in our group have different styles.

“For us, learning these different styles will be the first lesson of what we can expect at the World Cup.

“The friendly matches itself is the first stage of preparations for the World Cup. It  is a moment to check new set-up options and show quality in a non-competitive game.

“In this respect, too, it is an important element, and  we want to show that we can play football, and the new players will have to show that they can fit in and give us good balance.”

Lewandowski also emphasized on the importance on getting results during test games ahead of the finals.

“There may be weaker matches, but if we want to present ourselves as well as possible, we must prove quality even in training,” he stated.

“We know that it may look different. If the result is not perfect, it does not mean that it will be bad, because maybe the game will look good, there will be optimistic conclusions. It may not be a test, but showing that we also have quality to do well.”

Robert Lewandowski is set to request to leave Bayern Munich in the summer with the player no longer happy at the club, according to Sky Sports.

Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United are set to go head-to-head for the signature of the Polish international – should Bayern Munich allow the player to depart.

It is understood that Lewandowski has hired super-agent Pini Zahavi to negotiate a transfer away from the Allianz Arena this summer.

Lewandowski is set for a real battle to convince the Bavarians to allow him to leave, with the club not short of funds and a real reluctance to listen to offers from other clubs.

The striker is currently under contract with Bayern until 2021 and the club are unwilling to let their talisman leave anytime soon.

Following his controversial arrival from Borussia Dortmund back in 2014, Lewandowski has netted an impressive 97 goals in 108 Bundesliga games.

Should the Pole get his wish, a number of Europe’s elite are set to compete for his signature with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Manchester United all very interested.

Bayern worry

The tweet translated: “The bosses are silent for good reason: they know perfectly well that Lewandowski wants to leave in the summer and it is not just the media that take the subject seriously.”

This appears to be causing the Bundesliga leaders some real concern and an issue that we could see develop in the coming weeks.
