‘The Buhari Regime Is Plotting To Assassinate Me’ – Governor Wike

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, raised the alarm on Sunday, May 20, 2018, that the Federal Government was plotting to assassinate him in a crowd and claim accidental discharge.

Wike disclosed this during the third year anniversary thanksgiving service of his administration at the Living Faith Church, D-Line in Port Harcourt.

The governor said, “Intelligence report available to us as of this morning indicated that they are plotting to assassinate me in a crowd and claim it was an accidental discharge.”

Explaining that the plot of the All Progressives Congress Federal Government and its associates would not intimidate him, Wike stated that he remained committed to the defence of democracy and Rivers State.

He said that the plan would fail because God would continue to defend him, adding that there was a high level of conspiracy against the state.

“The level of conspiracy against Rivers State is unfortunate. Instead of focusing on governance, they focus on how to assassinate me or frame me up,” the governor added.

Wike told the church that the APC-led Federal Government, through the Inspector General of Police, plotted to plant millions of dollars and AK-47 rifles at his Abuja residence when the police went to an Abuja Court to get a search warrant.

He further stated that the court stopped the police from their “evil plot” when it ruled that they (police) should not search his Abuja residence.

“I am not afraid of my residence being searched by the police, but I know their evil intention,” he said.

Wike said that the state government had come to thank God for His protection in the face of a continuous plot by agents of the APC Federal Government.

He noted that despite the declaration by a former governor that his administration would not be able to pay salaries let alone do projects, his administration had succeeded in delivering outstanding projects.

In his remarks, the Rivers State Pastor of the Living Faith Church, Pastor Isaac Folaji, said thanksgiving engendered growth and blessing.

He said thanksgiving enhanced God’s protection and financial multiplication, adding that God would bless Rivers State as a result of the dedication service.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has said Rivers people will sack Governor Nyesom Wike in the 2019 general elections.

He said, “I am confident that Rivers people are done with him (Wike); he has betrayed us, he has robbed us of our dignity, he has robbed us of our resources. Enough is enough.

“Let me repeat it again, on the 29th of May next year by 12 noon, the APC will be in the Government House, Port Harcourt. Governor Wike will have one of two options. Option number one, go back to his village in Rumueprikom; option number two, he will be in prison. If I don’t have confidence that Rivers people want him out, I will not be saying so.

He also condoled with the families of those who lost their loved ones during the violence.

Governor Wike said that the fracas that claimed innocent lives ahead of the Rivers  APC congress underscores what Rivers people have continued to say about the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and their Commander, Mr Akin Fakorede who has been indicted by INEC for election rigging and violence.

He pleaded with APC members to see the state as one, pointing out that it is necessary for everyone to maintain the peace that the state currently enjoys.

FG Playing Politics With National Security – Wike

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has alleged that the nation’s security degenerated dangerously because the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government chose to play politics with the security challenges in the country.

Wike also called on professionals to show interest in political developments in the country to ensure the APC-led federal government returns to the right track.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, Wike said when Rivers had the issues with kidnappings, instead of addressing the security challenge, the federal government and its agents, allegedly plotted how to declare a state of emergency.

“The Federal Government politicised the issue of security in Rivers State at a time her intervention was required. That is why the whole country has been engulfed by insecurity.

“Everyday you hear people being killed like chicken in Taraba, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, Zamfara, Kwara, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Borno State. The case of Offa, where 50 persons were killed, is disheartening.

“After 50 persons were murdered in cold blood, the very next day, the authorities claimed that seven persons had been arrested. If the security agencies have the capacity to arrest almost immediately, why not stop the killings?” he wondered.

Wike decried the situation where Nigeria answers Big Brother Africa, but remains unable to uphold the rule of law, conduct credible elections and institute basic governance process.

He said every profession has the responsibility to play a role in the development of the country, especially by speaking out against the destruction of the tenets of the rule of law.

“If there is no rule of law, it negatively affects the professions. Professionals can no longer stand aloof while the country degenerates,” he said.

Earlier, Muhammadu Zakari, the President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, commended Governor Wike for rolling out projects that have stimulated the economy of the state.

He disclosed ICAN’s desire to partner the state government on issues that concern the organisation’s core values and urged Governor Wike to promote ICAN’s Accountability Index among political leaders in the country.

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike says the nation’s security degenerated dangerously because the Federal Government chose to play politics with the security challenge in Rivers State.

The governor said this at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday when the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) paid him a courtesy visit.

According to the governor, when the state was battling with issues such as kidnappings, the All Progressives Congress-controlled Federal Government plotted to declare a state of emergency in the state instead of addressing the security challenges.

“The Federal Government politicised the issue of security in Rivers State at a time when her intervention was required. That is why the whole country has been engulfed by insecurity,” he said.

“Every day you hear (about) people being killed like chickens. In Taraba, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, Zamfara, Kwara, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Borno States.”

Governor Wike decried the deadly robbery in Offa, Kwara State were up to 30 persons were reported killed and accused security agencies of failing to stop the incident.

He said, “After 50 persons were murdered in cold blood, the very next day, the authorities claimed that 7 persons have been arrested. If the security agencies have the capacity to arrest almost immediately, why not stop the killings?”

Although Nigeria is referred to as the giant of Africa or Big Brother Africa, the governor said the country has failed to uphold the rule of law, conduct credible elections and institute good governance.

To help reverse the trend, he called on professionals to show interest in political developments in the country, to ensure that the APC-led Federal Government returns to the right track.

He said every profession had a role to play in the development of the country, especially speaking out against the destruction of the tenets of the rule of law.

“If there is no rule of law, it negatively affects the professions. Professionals can no longer stand aloof while the country degenerates,” Governor Wike said.

Earlier, the President of ICAN, Alhaji Muhammadu Zakari, commended the governor for executing projects that have stimulated the economy of the state.

According to Zakari, ICAN is keen to partner with the Rivers State Government on issues that concern the organisation.

He urged the Rivers State Governor to promote ICAN’s Accountability Index amongst political leaders in the country.

He added, “I have found out that one of the problems about local administration is that when you do not allow the people to be involved, then there is always a disconnect.

Looters’ list: Wike reacts to exclusion of Amaechi’s name

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has reacted to the recent looters’ list released by the Nigerian Government.

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has reacted to the recent looters’ list released by the Nigerian Government.

Wike spoke during a courtesy cisit by Civil Society Organisations of Rivers State on Thursday at the Government House Port Harcourt.

Wike said publishing the list of persons standing trial in courts and calling them looters was an unfortunate act of irresponsibility by the Federal Government.

According to him, the act of irresponsibility was worsened by the fact that the All Progressives Congress, APC, leaders standing trial were excluded by the Federal Government.

Wike said, “This is an irresponsible Federal Government that has no respect for the rule of law. They have become the judge, the prosecutor in cases before courts.

“All they want to do is tie the hands of judges to ensure all those standing trial are convicted at all costs.”

The Rivers State Governor added that the irresponsible list of looters excluded the “name of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who was indicted by the court-approved Judicial Commission of Inquiry for embezzling over N90billion state funds.”
